Martha Ann Harshbarger, 60, of Olathe, KS, formerly of Salem, IA, died Friday, March 3, 2006, at the Hutchinson Hospital in Hutchinson, KS. Born August 19, 1945, in Mt. Pleasant, IA, she was the daughter of Robert and Esther Waldemeier Frary. She was a 1963 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. On September 4, 1965, she married James F. Harshbarger in Salem, IA. Mrs. Harshbarger worked as an office supervisor at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility while a resident of rural Inman, KS, retiring after 13 years. Survivors include her husband; one son, Jeffrey Harshbarger of Rowlett, TX; one daughter, Amy Friesen of Olathe, KS; four grandchildren; her father Robert Frary of Salem, IA; four brothers, Neal Frary and Jim Frary both of Salem, IA, Tom Frary of Mt. Pleasant, IA, and John Frary of Atascadero, CA; and by one sister Sara Miller of New Braunfels, TX. She was preceded in death by her mother. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 11, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at the Salem Congregational Church in Salem, IA, with the Rev. Harold Dorsey officiating. Burial will be in the Salem South Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the Salem Congregational Church in her memory. The Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel of Mt. Pleasant, IA, is in charge of the local arrangements.
