In loving memory of

Arthur Patterson
September 2, 1929 - July 4, 2020

Dr. E. Arthur Patterson, DDS, age 90, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, July 4, 2020, at Avamere at The Stratford memory care facility. He was born on September 2, 1929, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Leroy Arthur Patterson and Olive May (Myers) Patterson. He spent his youth in Pima, Arizona where he was involved in football, basketball and softball. In his early twenties, Arthur served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Buenos Aires, Argentina where he taught the gospel and played the saxophone in the mission band. He received his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and continued his educational pursuits to become a dentist (DDS) at The Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas (now part of Texas A&M University). He practiced dentistry for well over 55 years in the valley and loved it. He considered his patients to be an extension of his family. He enjoyed going to the conventions and continuing education courses so he could learn the latest trends and technology to better serve his patients. Throughout his life he enjoyed fishing, riding dirt bikes, golfing and playing Horseshoes. He loved traveling with his family to Woods Canyon Lake and to Newport and Solana Beach, California. He was a longtime member of a local Phoenix Kiwanis group, the Arizona Dental Association, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in which he held several leadership positions. He was a faithful and humble servant of the Lord. Arthur is survived by his only sibling Patsy Ferrin; his brothers-in-law Jerry Watt, Keith Ferrin, Laird & Lorin Hatch; his sister in law Lori Hatch; his children Suzanne Cook, Wendy Billingsley (Dan), Lynette Brogdon (Matthew), Victoria Maher (Joe), Cara Thomas (Brent), William "Bill" Patterson, and his daughter-in-law, Brenda Patterson; 26 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
