Kristine Lynn (Chylek Welch) Clemins, 58, of Marquette, passed away peacefully Friday morning, July 3, 2020 at UP Health System-Marquette with her family by her side.
She was born July 22, 1961 in Escanaba, a daughter of the late John and Marilyn (Newberg) Chylek. She was raised in Escanaba and was a 1979 graduate of Escanaba High School and later a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America.
Kris was employed for more than 20 years in food service at Bookbinders Eatery at NMU and served as the union steward with AFSCME.
She participated in local pool and softball leagues and enjoyed spending time with grandchildren, cooking and singing.
Kris is survived by her husband, Timothy Clemins of Marquette; daughter, Denise (John) Abramson of Marquette; grandchildren, Madilyn & John; siblings, Sherry (Doc) Austin of Marshall, MI, Lynn (Sharon) Chylek of Escanaba, Denise (Judes) Chylek of Tampa, FL and Jackie (Ken) LaMarche of Escanaba; and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, John and Roger Chylek.
A celebration of Kris' life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Vincent DePaul, 2119 Presque Isle Avenue, Marquette, MI 49855.
