Florence Newberry, 98, of Fort Dodge passed away Sunday, July 5, 2020 at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 3:00 PM Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at Corpus Christi Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in Corpus Christi Cemetery. A visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Laufersweiler- Sievers Funeral Home is serving the family.
Florence is survived by her children, Sue (Dennis) Krohne of Kansas City, MO and their children, Keith, Jimmy and Justin Mitchell; Tim (Karol) Newberry of Brownsburg, IN and their children Dan and Mary, and Steve (Pam) Newberry of Swisher, IA and their children, Ashley, Alexis, Sam, and McKenzie; son-in-law, Jim Kapustka of Fort Dodge and his children, Michael, Lisa, Jason, and Amy; and Terry's daughters, Shawn, Laura, and Dianne all of South Caroline; 29 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; and siblings, Dale (Joan) Stumpf of Rockwell City, Doris Dickerson of Altoona, and Aletha Hayward of Reno, NV.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Josephine (Schwiderski) Stumpf; husband, John Newberry in 1994; son, Terry Newberry in 2019; daughter, Kathy Kapustka in 2020; grandson, John William Newberry; and siblings, Bernard Stumpf, Faye Mundie, and Rosella Loxterkamp.
Florence Irene Stumpf was born August 17, 1921 in Rockwell City. She graduated from Rockwell City High School in 1939. She then attended Fort Dodge Beauty Academy and graduated in 1940. Florence was united in marriage to John Newberry November 9, 1942 at St. Francis Church in Rockwell City. The couple made their home in Omaha until after WWII, when they moved to Fort Dodge when John started with Standard Oil Company. Florence was a member of Corpus Christi Church and served on the funeral lunch committee for many years. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, a Girl Scout leader, and a resident at the Marian Home Village since 2015. She had a passion for sewing and quilting and she won the Make It with Wool Contest twice! She had a deep love for her family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Memorials may be left to Saint Edmond Catholic Schools.
