In loving memory of

Benjamin Marion Taylor
October 30, 1926 - June 30, 2020

On June 30, 2020 Benjamin Marion Taylor, 93, was relieved of all pain, frustration and fear, for his soul was carried away and he is now safe in the arms of Jesus. This comforts his family who he leaves behind. Joyce Francen Taylor, his bride of 73 years. Children: Carol Tisdale/ husband Jack, Craig Taylor/wife Jennifer, David Taylor/wife Nicole, Patricia Johnson, Pam Chilek/ husband Bobby. His beloved grandchildren: Matt Tisdale/wife Missy, Lauren St.Clair, Zeke Taylor, Gabe Taylor, Sam Johnson, Kristen Chilek, Jeff Chilek. Precious great-grandchildren: Johannah St.Clair, Jaden St.Clair and Ruby Tisdale. Marion is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews: Janet Lynn Fain, Sheri Sanders and Jimmy Taylor.

In recent years Marion lost his treasured siblings Naomi Taylor and Jim Taylor and has missed them terribly. Decades ago his mother Nellie Bell Carpenter Taylor and his father Benjamin Mason Taylor passed from this life.

Marion was born in Irving, Texas on October 30, 1926. He served in the U.S. Army at the end of World War II and spent most of that time in Italy. He often shared memories of the times when Italian ladies in the villages would cook up wonderful pasta dishes for the young American soldiers. He had fond remembrances of the hospitality shown by many Italians.
When the war was over, Marion and Joyce married and started a family in Oklahoma where he worked for the Frisco Railroad as a telegraph operator. Soon after, they moved to San Marcos, TX where he and his brother Jim owned and operated "Taylor Brothers' Gulf" service station. By 1960 Marion and Joyce had added to their union, 3 children and made another move which was to Austin where soon after, twins were born. A new career was begun and Marion worked 10 years as a staff manager for Prudential Insurance Company. When presented with the opportunity, he purchased what became "Taylor's Texaco" across the highway from what then was Bergstrom Air Force Base. In the late 1970's "Taylor's Automotive" on Manchaca Rd. was established and it was to be Marion's last business venture until 2008.

Most importantly, Marion was a godly man. In his life, God was his focus and because of that, he was guided by inspired scripture to diligently strive to be what God wanted him to be... a devoted husband, strong family leader and provider, loyal friend, honest businessman, kind neighbor and shining light to all who were blessed to know him. \

Graveside services will be 11:00 AM on Monday, July 6, 2020 at San Marcos City Cemetery, 1001 RR 12, San Marcos, TX.

In lieu of flowers, Marion would have wished that donations to the Southwest School of Preaching be made. Checks can be made to: SWSBS, 8900 Manchaca Rd., Austin, TX. 78748. With a notation "for SWSBS Marion Taylor Memorial".
