Mabel N. Whipple, 86, of Portsmouth, RI, passed away on October 25, 2018. Mabel was born in Mountain Creek, AL, one of ten children to the late Fletcher and Susie (Culpepper) Manning. Mabel was the wife of the late Robert Whipple U.S.N. CPO.Mabel became a Navy Wave where she met her future husband Robert. She worked for many years for the Portsmouth School System. She then went on to work as a caretaker for children as well as a homemaker.Mabel is survived by her children Michael Whipple and his wife Sandra Whipple and children Jennifer, Amanda, and Joshua Carlson. Mabel is also survived by her daughter Gail Whipple and her children Jonathan Whipple and his wife Vanessa and their children Cayden and Audri, Joshua Silva and his wife Maeghan, and Mabel is survived by her son Brian Whipple.Mabel is also survived by her siblings Jettie MacWilliam, Jeanette Manning, and Jack Manning.She was preceded in death by her siblings Marietta Newcomb, Lucille Frederick, James Albert Manning, George Manning, Maria Hill and Zelma WebbVisitation will be held Thursday November 1st 2018 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway Newport, RI 02840. Her funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM in the funeral home.Burial will follow at Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery in Exeter, Rhode Island
