Okeemia Dawn "Keme" Payne, age 33, of Fairmont, and formerly of Baltimore, MD departed this life on Monday, March 20, 2017 at Fairmont Regional Medical Center of Fairmont, WV."Keme" was born June 5, 1983 in Fairmont, WV. She is the daughter of Donna Jean Payne of Fairmont, and Promise Allen of Detroit, MI; and two important men in life who helped to raise her Charles "Bubba" Echols and Ron Williams.She was a former employee of TeleTech and Holiday Inn of Fairmont. She graduated from Francis M. Wood High School in Baltimore, MD and attended Fairmont State University. She enjoyed reading and flower gardening.She was a dedicated mother to her three children, whom were her life.In addition to her parents, she is survived by two daughters, Sanaa Hayes of Baltimore, MD and Jamia Elder of Fairmont; one son, Djwaal Hayes, Jr. of Baltimore, MD; one sister Angel Echols of Baltimore, MD; one brother, DeAndre Payne of Fairmont; grandmother Delores Kelly of Baltimore, MD; grandfathers Eugene Payne, Jr. of Charleston, WV, and Houston Lee of Fairmont; four aunts, Saronna Payne of Baltimore, MD, Shimada Payne of Fairmont and Callie Mosley of Atlanta, GA, and Lashawna Beafore-Miller of North Carolina; five uncles, Calvin Payne of Columbus, OH, Eugene Payne, III of Fairmont, Vernon Payne of Fairmont, Jonte Payne of Charleston, WV and Ern Carr of New York; her godmother, Bertha 'Peaches" Powell of Fairmont, WV; several great-aunts and great-uncles, and a host of cousins including a special cousin, Damingo Carr; and many loving friends including two who were very close to Keme, Cherise Jones of Fairmont and Tanecia Richardson of Morgantown.She was preceded in death by her grandparents Hattie and Phillip Sistrunk and Helen and Eugene Payne, and a nephew, Avonte Powell. Friends joined the family to honor Keme's life and legacy at Morningstar Baptist Church, 100 McKinney St., Fairmont on Saturday, March 25th from 11:00 AM until 12:00 Noon. Her Home Going Service began at 12:00 Noon in the church with Reverend Wesley Q.
