"Such a shock to just learn of Dr. Kirkham\'s passing. My husband is an Iraq War Veteran with PTSD. Dr. Kirkham was instrumental in advocating on his behalf for the testing that was necessary to determine further diagnosis\' of his disability. Her kindness and compassion to my husband and I will never be forgotten. We felt relief after meeting with her and we commented that we would be friends with her if she were our neighbor. For Dr. Kirkhams spouse and family please know that she made in a difference in our lives as I know she did for many others. Her compassion,sense of humor, her attentiveness in validating the struggles of our nations military wounded meant the world to us. Our thoughts and love to all of you....."

"We met J.R., Julianne, and Alyssa while J.R. and my husband were patients at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN and we were all staying at Hope Lodge. We were assigned the same kitchen, our rooms were close together and J.R.\'s locker was next to ours. We became instant friends and tried to support each other throughout the treatments. When J.R. and Julianne left Hope Lodge, they shared their extra food stuffs with us. We were able to meet up with them again on a subsequent visit to Mayo. It saddens us to think that Julianne is gone. Our thoughts and prayers go with the family."

"I met Julie through my work at the hospital and with the MSU UP Campus medical students. She was always so kind and helpful and good to the students and to me. Her sweet smile could put anyone at ease and she had a wonderful way of communicating with people. She was a very special person and left the world a better place than she found it. "I am saddened to hear of Julie\'s passing. She was the first student to do a pre-doctoral psychology placement at the Forensic Center in Saline in 1987. I participated in her training. She was a very intellectually curious, sensitive, and hard working doctoral student. She had a great sense of humor and the staff enjoyed working with her. I stayed in touch with her for a while and we became friends. It has been many years now since I last had contact with her. I actually tried to look her up last year when I took my daughter to NMU.
