In loving memory of

BARBARA JEAN ADAMS
June 7, 1936 - June 26, 2020

Barbara Jean Adams, 84, of Marquette, passed away Friday, June 26, 2020 _ at Brookridge Heights Assisted Living in the presence of her loving family and under the care of U.P. Home Health and Hospice.

Barb was born on June 7, 1936 in Laurium, Michigan, a daughter of the late George and Margaret (Torreano) Menzies and was a graduate of Calumet Public High School.

Barb was formerly employed as a flight attendant with Continental Airlines.

She was a devoted Catholic, wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed life and traveling, often referring to herself as a "gypsy." She never missed a sporting event for her children or grandchildren. A very loving and caring person often doting on all of her family. She was an amazing cook with many Italian family dinners at home along with traditional Christmas Eve family gatherings.

She welcomed everyone whether at home or at camp on Lake Independence. Many games of bocce ball and ping pong played where more often than not....she was the champ.

Many might know her as the "town walker" as she would walk her many eight mile routes around the city of Marquette.

She had many sayings whether calling her five children by name or coming up with new additional names i.e.: "Sue, Pete, Lenore." Her children knew to answer whatever name was used.

She was always home to welcome her children back whether as children or as adults. She will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her.

She was an active member of St. Michael Catholic Church including their altar society where she served on the funeral luncheon committee for many years.

A dedicated mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she is survived by her husband of 61 years, Ronald Adams; five children, Carrie (Jeff) Magowan, Brad (Becky) Adams, Mary (Karl) Hill, Amy Rantanen, and Tracy (Jim) Klumb all of Marquette; five grandchildren, Taylor Adams, Trevor Adams, Jamie Rantanen, Jack Rantanen, and Jordyn Klumb; four great grandchildren, Avelyn Adams, Nova Glenn, Camille Adams, and Zyan Adams. Preceding her in death besides her parents was a daughter, Lynn Marie Adams and a sister, Carol Negro.

Barb's family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday, July 1st at St. Michael Catholic Church beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial in the church at 12 noon with the Rev. Gregory Heikkala officiating. Entombment will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum.

A special thank you goes out to U.P. Home Health and Hospice and the staff at Brookridge Heights. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy are kindly asked to consider Bay Cliff Health Camp, PO Box 310, Big Bay, MI 49808 in Barb's memory.
