Fred Lee Shoemake
May 8, 1945 - June 22, 2020

Fred Lee Shoemake of Buda, Texas went to be with our Heavenly Father on June 22, 2020, at the age of 75.
Fred was born in Weatherford, Texas, on May 8, 1945, the third surviving child of Jessie Mitchell Shoemake and Oleta Carnley King. He married Ona Faye Kensing on August 20, 1964. They were blessed with one son, Shaun Paul, and one daughter, Charlotte Renee.
Although Mr. Shoemake lived most of his life in various Texas towns, he grew up in Fairbanks, Alaska, where he attended Lathrop High School. He was a journeyman sheet metal mechanic with Sheet Metal Workers Local Union No. 67 until his retirement. He spent several years working on the Alaska pipeline and at other various sites in Alaska, in Angola, Africa, and in Carolina, Puerto Rico. After supporting his son in a new business venture in Buda, Texas, he retired in January 2011. Fred spent his leisure time playing golf with the Cajun Tour at Plum Creek Golf Course in Kyle, Texas, where he was a member. He also enjoyed watching college football, traveling, and being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Ona Shoemake of Buda, Texas, his two children, Shaun Shoemake and wife Becky, of Buda, Texas, Charlotte Shoemake Smith of Spotsylvania, Virginia, his five grandchildren, Jeremy Frum and wife Kristina, of Spotsylvania, Virginia, Mitchell Shoemake and wife Tiffani, of Aviano Air Base, Italy, Joshua Frum and wife, Jayme, of Covington, Washington, Marshall Shoemake of Buda, Texas, Mariell Shoemake of Buda, Texas, and six great grandchildren. He is also survived by four sisters, Wynnel Wright and husband Eldon of Independence, Kansas, Barbara Petit of Marble Falls, Texas, Sharon Kinamon of Florida, and Becky Dunn and husband Art of Ruidoso, New Mexico, and one brother, James Paul King of Carrizozo, New Mexico, two aunts, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jessie Mitchell Shoemake, his mother, Oleta Carnley King, an older brother, Mitchell Dwayne Shoemake, two sister, Lilly Mae Shoemake, and Linda Darlene Shoemake, and one son-in-law, Lane Smith.
Some religions and cultures believe the departed are gone to God, are now safe, and are relieved of the suffering of this mortal world to enjoy the presence of God. He is once again God's child.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am at City Cemetery Chapel, 1001 Ranch Road 12, San Marcos, Texas on Tuesday, June 30th, 2020. During this difficult time of abundant caution due to the Corona Virus, masks and Social distancing are required. If you are unable to attend the service, you may show your support by joining the "Hugs from Home" program located on Fred's memorial webpage where your message will be given to the family to remind them of your love and support for them.
