Lorraine Gertrude Foucher
December 2, 1923 - May 8, 2020

Lorraine G. Foucher was born on December 2, 1923 to Grace M.and Benedict Joseph Foucher Sr. in Chicago, Illinois. As a young child, Lorraine was baptized as a Roman Catholic and made her Holy Communion and First Confirmation. She remained Catholic and accepted Christ as her personal savior before departing this life. Lorraine was the oldest daughter of six children, with one sister and four brothers.

As a young girl, she attended Corpus Christi Catholic School and Englewood High. After graduating high school in 1939 at sixteen years old, Lorraine accepted a job with Illinois Bell (currently ATT).

In 1955, Aunt Lorraine married Roy Lane and he remained in her life until his death.

Lorraine started out as a phone operator and with great work ethics and professionalism was promoted to the ranks of supervisor during a time when women of color were discriminated against with few advancements. In 1970, Illinois Bell began a pilot program for employees to earn a college degree through company support. Lorraines dream was to a pursue higher education, so she promptly applied and was accepted into the program. Through this program, she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1973, and a Masters in Education in 1975 from De Paul University. After forty years with the company Lorraine retired from Illinois Bell in 1980.

Lorraine began her second career as a special education teacher with emphasis in learning disabilities and began a teaching career with Chicago Public Schools. Initially she began as a substitute teacher and then accepted a full-time teaching position at James Madison Elementary School. Over the years she received many awards. One notable accolade was her initiation to Alpha Delta Kappa, an International Honorary Organization for Women Educators. Lorraine taught for fifteen years before retiring from her second career in 1995.

After retiring, Lorraine continued to volunteer in various capacities with catholic services, as a poll monitor, and summer school teacher. She spent the last five years in San Diego, California, where she was appreciated and blessed to spend her final years with family. She showed them what the meaning of classy was. She truly led by example and changed their lives forever. Aunt Lorraine, as she was affectionately known was able to hang out like she was thirty, and thanked God for her life all the time.

Lorraine loved to travel, and she traveled the world. She was a socialite and was so beautiful inside and out and attracted people every place she went. She loved reading the daily paper and enjoyed word search puzzles that were a must.

Lorraine lived a very long and full life and abided by three mottos: faith, family, and education. She was her familys inspiration and inspired hundreds of people around the world. Lorraine has supported the entire Foucher Family morally and physically, and for generations. She would always shine bright like a diamond. She was very giving, whether it was for a birthday or just a loan that turned into a gift. That was Aunt Lorraine! She loved, loved, loved everyone in her family and all of those who came into her path. She was the #1 cheerleader for everyone and was the youngest ninety-six year-old you could ever meet. Her spirit was as if she was only sixty. She is the example everyone should be like in life and would never turn her head and always find a way to help someone in need.

On May 8, 2020, our Heavenly Father decided that it was his time to spend with her as our Lords newest angel. Lorraine always said she was born with a vail over her, and when she departed from this earth the vail was removed.

Lorraine was preceded in death by husband Roy; sister Grace (Nina) Foucher; four brothers Benedict Joseph Foucher Jr., Antoine Raphael Foucher, George Foucher, and Michael Foucher.

Lorraine received her final sacrament and last rites, joining her parents and siblings in the house of the Lord Jesus Christ . She leaves her loving memories for five nieces and one nephew: Brenda J. Scott-Savage of Houston, TX, Kathryn A. Price of Port Charlette, FL, Michelle L. Christopher of Douglasville, GA, Christina E. Foucher-Day of San Diego, Tanya Foucher-Weekly of Chicago, IL, and Timothy L. Foucher of Tampa, FL. She also leaves behind a host of great-nieces and nephews: Ethan Weekly, Sheri Scott, Shadae Bell, Anthony (AJ) Bell, Shawn Scott, Dibeon Scott, Joaquin Scott, Amber Scott, Alaynia Noel, Amari Silas, Emani Silas, Edward Wynn, Shawn Scott Jr., Sheldon Scott, Jade Scott, Jordan Scott, Tasha Foucher-Branch, Asha Branch, Shannon Branch, Timothy Craig Foucher, Felip Foucher, Ramon Williams, Mishaddia Foucher, Rudolph Price III, Anthony Price, Dominick Price, Dominick Amir Price, Sean David Price, Sean Devante Price, Laela Price, Des Price, Turquoise Price-Peitz, Marciano Peitz, Gianni Peitz, Keisha Rodgers, Donovan Brooks, Diamond Brooks, Alexandria Rodgers, Angelina Rodgers, AshLynn Rodgers, Shannon Bailey, Dominique Woods, Zoey Woods, Phillip Lewis, Izzie Jobst, Tajae Lewis, Brooke Lewis, Sainte Foucher, Saige Wright, Mercedes Tyler, and many other extended family and friends throughout the US.
