It was on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at 7:00 a. m, at her Jacksonville Florida home, when Mrs. Mildred (Millie) Smith was granted her new wings to enter the gates of Eternal Life.
Little Miss Mildred Ann Horne, the third child of 8 children, was born in Gifford Florida on February 24, 1942 to the late James Carlton Graham and Doreatha Graham. She was a faithful member of the Macedonia M.B. Church for many years until her health began failing.
During her membership at Macedonia, Mildred met the love of her life, Deacon Jerome Smith whom she affectionately called Smitty. She and Smitty were married for approximately18 years until he went home to be with the Lord in 2014.
Mrs. Smith loved the Lord and enjoyed life to its fullest. She loved to listen to gospel music and some good jazz music off and on. She had a great sense of humor, she was a warm friendly person who loved and cherished her friends and family, loved little children, loved giving help to others in need, and always had a kind word for everyone she met. Although she possessed these beautiful traits, Millie was very outspoken when necessary. After completing her formal education, she was employed by the Unified School District, the Community Hospital and retired from the Catholic Charities, downtown San Diego, in 2015.
Mrs. Mildred Smith leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Mrs. Debbie Walker; two step daughters, Wanda Smith, Mrs. Wendy Davis, and one stepson, Jerry Smith; three sisters, Vivian Ann Horne of Los Angeles, CA, June Marie Davis of San Diego, CA, and Mrs. Atawaa L.
