"I had another break down this week it's so for me because I knew him for so long he is always on my mind still missing you RIH Iwill see you later"
Kerry Rene Turman turned in his earthly bass for a heavenly bass on April 23, 2017 unexpectedly to all but the Father who called him home.
Kerry left Detroit, Michigan at the age of 19 to pursue his passion in music and further develop his chops in Los Angeles, California. He traveled the world playing the bass for many artists, including, Roy Ayers, Evelyn Champagne King and others before landing with the world renowned group, The Temptations. Kerry played bass for The Temptations for the last 33 years and developed strong relationships with the band and lead singers.
Kerry loved all music and some of his all-time favorites included the Jackson 5, Larry Graham and Prince. His fellow musicians appreciated his passion for music and his strive for perfection, strongly believing that less is more.
Even though Kerry spent a great deal of time traveling for work, he fondly spoke about the time he took his son on the road with him. Kerry will be remembered by all who knew him for his kindness, his steel trap memory and the many strong friendships he developed over the years. The tenacity that allowed Kerry to achieve top ranking in his profession, did not prevent him from being an incredibly nice guy. To all who knew Kerry, they felt like they gained a brother, uncle, confidant and life-long friend.
Kerry leaves behind the love of his life and wife of 24 years, Shevelle and their son Erick; Brothers Michael and Delbert of Detroit and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. Preceding Kerry in death are his father and mother, Delbert and Klara Turman of Detroit.

"My deepest condolences to Kerry's family. I met Kerry around 7 yrs ago at a Temptation Concert at The Orleans in Vegas. We talked for a while and he found out that I was born and raised in Detroit. We talked a lot about how I always had front row seats. He was extremely kind to me and whoever I introduced him too. Also last yr when I saw him I said come on and lets take a picture together = = I'm so glad that I did this. The world has lost a wonderful person but God has gained a tremendous angel. Much love."

"Kerry was always a kind soul, quiet and confident. He lived gently and played perfectly, always, with a big thump. I will miss him on stage every time I play that music. These are the highest praises I can give a musician and I hope they can be said of me one day, too. Peace."
