September 28, 1928 - February 25, 2014 AC Wheatfall was the eighth child, of ten children, born to the union of Earl and Tealure Jenkins Wheatfall on September 28, 1928. The son of proud farmers, he learned the value of land ownership first hand. A C would fondly recall his days working on their family-owned-land, and boldly proclaimed that he was the "best in the west" when it came to duties on the farm mainly picking cotton. He received his formal education in the Courtney School District. As an avid sportsman, he excelled in basketball and other sports. At an early age he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and was baptized at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Rev. Westbrook, Pastor in Navasota, TX. In 1946 he met the lovely Miss Eva Mae Franklin, two years later, October 23, 1948 the happy couple was united in holy matrimony. To this union three beautiful children were born. AC, Eva Mae, and Arthur Charles relocated to San Diego California in 1951 where they soon purchased their family home. He established a career with United States Government at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot and retired after 38 years of service as The Foreman of The Plumbing Department. Well known in the community, A C was sought after as an independent plumbing professional. He gained a reputation for being fair, honest, trustworthy and dependable in his trade. He also was well-known for barbecuing his famous ribs, links, and chicken. The inviting aroma of the barbecue grill would bring friends and neighbors all around including police officers, mail carriers and anyone who happened to be passing by... he never turned away a hungry soul. AC believed in fellowshipping with friends and so he opened up his garage six days a week for the retired gentleman to enjoy a little domino recreation. Sunday was his day of rest with family only. A family man, he always celebrated his birthday with large parties every year. People would come from near and far to enjoy this celebrated event. He also loved sporting events and would often be found enjoying wrestling, basketball or baseball games either in person or in the comfort of his living room. Most of all, he loved his wife, his family and his friends. The Lord called A C home, from labor to reward, on February 25, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Tealure; seven siblings, Joshua 'Big Bud', Ella Mae 'Sista', James 'Pooda', Marie 'Moomie', Earline 'Chip', Ulysses 'Bouie', and Kermit 'KT'; and his son Arthur Charles. He leaves to rejoice in and cherish his memory his devoted wife of 65 years, Mrs. Eva Mae Wheatfall; and his two doting daughters, Lena Wheatfall (Houston, TX) and Gwendolyn Grant (San Diego, CA). Not only was he tall in stature but his legacy extends with five grandchildren, Isaac Grant, Daniel Wheatfall, Derricca Grant, Natalie Wheatfall, Jewelyn (Dwayne) Wright all of San Diego, CA; and continues on with five great-grandchildren, Naliyah Wright, Malachi Battle, Demarion Wright, Isaac Grant Jr, and Isaiah Grant all of San Diego, CA. He's also survived by two brothers Rudolph (Dora) Wheatfall, Sr. (Kerrville, TX) and Bobbie (Dorothy) Wheatfall (Houston, TX); a brother-in-law, Ira Franklin (San Diego, CA), a God-child, Karl Bailey, Jr. (San Diego, CA), and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, his domino-family, and friends to celebrate his home going.

"I will miss you dearly Papa. I'll never forget how you were almost always there, playing daminos with the others, kicking back always having a great time. When I visited there even after you were gone, it feels like you're still there. Watching everyone playing, laughing, and talking. If I could, I'd go back in time just to embrace those moments again and again. I love you dearly and I will miss you.Yesterday, Nana to passed away. As sad as I am to see her go, I'm very glad that the two of you are now reunited up in the sky with you and her son Charles. I'm not too big on love and romance, but you and Nana's life together is the best love story of all time in my book. I will never forget all of the wonderful times I had with you guys when I still lived in San Diego. I remember leaving the house without telling anyone just to see the both of you. Heck at one point, I once believed that my last name was Wheatfall. My only regret is that I was able to visit the two of you more. RIP Papa and Nana. The two of you will always be in my heart. Your friend Malik Coleman, the boy from next door."
