Edwin Tottress
February 16, 1925 - February 22, 2012

Edwin Tottress February 16th, 1925 - February 22nd, 2012 Edwin Lamer Tottress was born on February 16, 1925 to Mayandrew M. Tottress and Louise Headspeth-Tottress in Newby, Oklahoma. He was the 5th born of 19 children, and was affectionately known as "Shorty" by his family, and as "Tot" by his friends. Edwin L. Tottress married Helen Emma Singleton in the early 1950's and this marriage blended a family,(Dona, Judy, and Tyrone) and produced one offspring, Roxanne. Tot joined the United States Navy at an early age and served his country for a little over 20 years. Once he retired from the United States Navy in 1967, he began his civilian career at NAS North Island on April 26, 1967. In 1978 he transfered to the Naval Amphibious Base, Coronado where he continued his work as a Painter until he retired after 20 years of employment. Edwin was awarded a 40 year pin for his combined service with the Federal Government, a record to be proud of. Edwin, was an active member of the Veteren's Of Foriegn War (VFW) Post 5179, and the American Legion. He was a Past Commander holding office for more than one term with the VFW. He was very proud of his affilation with both organizations, and devoted many hours to member involvement. Tot enjoyed playing lotto, and attending live horse, and greyhound races. He loved music, and dancing. You rarely seen an empty dance floor if Tot was in the building. After retirement he enjoyed watching the Price is Right, The Young and the Restless, and last but not least Soul Train as the Late Don Cornelius would say; " In parting we wish you love, peace, and soul"! He was preceded in death by his parents, Mayandrew and Louise; 7 brothers, Earl, Elvert, George, Clyde, Arcattio, Bill, Henry; 2 sisters, Erma, Perlie; 1 Daughter, Judy. Edwin is survived by 3 children; Dona Jean Tottress- Moss (David) of Ontario, CA, Tyrone Anthony Tottress (Katy) of San Diego, CA, and Roxanne Charisse Tottress- Henry (Malcolm) of San Diego, CA. Siblings- brothers; Richard (Mattie) ( Atlanta, GA), Ezra (Detroit, MI), Mayandrew M. III (Tulsa, OK), Webster (Barbara) (Tulsa OK), Roselle (Tulsa, OK), Homerselle (Boynton,OK), sisters; Laverne (Los Angeles, CA), Victoria (Jackson, MS), Lenora (Bristow, OK), Mablelean (Troy) (Tulsa, OK), sister in law; Tina Tottress (San Diego,CA), 8 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, and Friends.
