Kathleen Marie Gaffney

Kathleen Marie Gaffney was born on October 14, 1955 in Spokane Washington. She was the youngest child of John and Betty Clare Gaffney.
She married the love of her life, Jhan Smith on September 6, 1998 in Kingston, Washington, and what a wonderful match they were.
Kathleen is survived by her husband Jhan, and four daughters, Jhennifer Cocke, her husband Jason and children Devynn, Wesley, Caden and Colton; daughter Heather Smith and her children Maddison, Micaela, Mackenzie and Marissa, daughter Jhanine Robinson and her husband Jake, children Landon, Ashton and Haley and daughter Kara Padilla, husband Gil and children Kalie, Alexa and Zoey, and 2 great grandchildren Keegan and Troy. She is also survived by her four siblings, Mike Gaffney, Mary Jaggars and her husband Rick, Maureen McDonough and her husband John and John Gaffney and his wife Debbie. Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents John and Betty Clare Gaffney, Her sisters Anne Machala and Patty Lou Gaffney and her nephew Scott Lauby. Kathleen Graduated from Seattle University in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. Her career spanned more than 30 years working largely at Swedish Medical and Providence Health in the Case Management field.

She was a strong patient advocate and was devoted to her profession.Kathleen thoroughly loved spending time with her friends which she made easily. She was always the prankster and loved to laugh. One would never know what she was up to next. She also loved her children and grandchildren very much. At night, you would often see Kathleen sitting on the grandkids bed reading them a children's classic. Kathleen loved her kitties and enjoyed traveling, TV Series and classical music as well as Motown.

She had a beautiful voice and was an accomplished singer and was chosen to travel to Europe with the Seattle University Choir.

Kathleen was loved by many people and will be deeply missed.
After a long battle with Interstitial Lung Disease, Kathleen passed away peacefully at home.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Kathleen will be held at The Chapel of Saint Ignatius at Seattle University on October 19th at 10:30 a.m. with a reception to follow. Burial Services will be held in her home town of Sprague, Washington at Maccabee Cemetery at a date yet to be determined.
