In loving memory of

Richard A. DeLarm
August 27, 1928 - June 2, 2020

Richard A. DeLarm, 91, of Onslow, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, June 2, 2020, at home surrounded by his family.

A public graveside service and burial celebrating Richard's life will be held at 1:30 P.M., Friday, June 5, 2020 at East Iron Hill Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa. A public visitation will take place from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. on Friday, June 5, 2020, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Social distancing guidelines will be followed at both locations.

Richard Arlen DeLarm was born on August 27, 1928 in Jackson County, Iowa, to Willis Lyman and Ruby Mae (Taylor) DeLarm. He married Delores I. Tracy at the Tracy Family Farm in Baldwin, Iowa on March 20, 1957. To this union three children were born, Bret, Diane and Patty.

Richard was a lifelong farmer. He first farmed north of Monmouth for 20 years, and for the past 42 years west of Canton.

Richard enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, gardening and raising watermelons and muskmelons. He was a conservationist who had great care and concern for the trees and flowers and believed you should leave things better than the way you found them.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Delores DeLarm of Onslow, IA; children, Bret (April) DeLarm of Wyoming, IA, Diane (Matt) Schaeffer of Wellman, IA, and Patty (Brian) Podhaski of Wyoming, IA; 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Lovely of Maquoketa, IA, and Judy Ray of Bettendorf, IA; sisters-in-law, Phyllis DeLarm and Janet DeLarm; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers Raymond (Ruth), David, Carl, Charles (Brenda) and Donald (Gertrud), and a brother-in-law Dick Ray.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to Hospice of Jackson County.

The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family. Please feel free to call or stop at the funeral home with notes of condolence or leave words of comfort on the funeral home website at www.CarsonAndSon.com.

Tributes

Mona (Caraway) Knadle wrote on Jun 17, 2020:

"I, along with all of Merle & Carrie Caraway\'s daughters and sons, will always remember Richard as a wonderful, kind and hard working man, just like anyone who knew him. I remember babysitting the kids back in the early 60\'s when your family lived down the long lane. I loved babysitting at your place, because it was so \"homey\" and they were such good kids, which was evidence of the solid and loving family life that they had. Later in life, it made me happy when Bret married into the Eichhorn family, which is another favorite family of mine with April being such a sweetheart; and I want both of them to know that I am thinking of them, along with you, Delores, and all of your family. May the sadness that you all now feel in your hearts, be replaced, in time, with the many good memories of a very special and loving man. Warmly, Mona (Caraway) Knadle"
