Joshua R. Meyer
December 29, 1981 - May 17, 2020

A graveside service for Josh will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, September 12, 2020, at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Whittemore. The graveside service will be live streamed on Oakcrest Funeral Services' Facebook Page. A Celebration of Life will be held at the American Legion Post #425 in Whittemore following the graveside service. Joshua Ronald Meyer was born December 29, 1981, in Algona, Iowa, the son of Ronald and Mary Ellen (Elbert) Meyer. He grew up in Whittemore and graduated from Bishop Garrigan High School in 2000. While in high school Joshua was all-state in football and played golf. After graduating Josh went on to DMACC to earn a degree in Horticulture. Josh went to work for Jester Park Golf Course in Granger then to American Fence before moving back to Whittemore where he worked for AGP and White Transfer.

Josh's proudest moment in his life, was when he became a father to his son, Cooper Joshua Meyer on October 1, 2007. The bond they had with each other was unlike any other. They both loved spending time with each other and enjoyed doing many activities together. Josh enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, watching sports especially the Iowa Hawkeyes. He also, loved spending time with family and friends.

Joshua died Sunday, May 17, 2020, at MercyOne in Des Moines. He was 38.

Josh is survived by his son, Cooper Meyer of Sheldon; father, Ron Meyer of Whittemore; brother, Ben Meyer and friend, Jodi Duhn and her son, Jackson of Milford; aunts and uncles, Dan and Maureen Elbert of Whittemore, Mick and Patty Elbert of Algona, and Linda Meyer of Oelwein and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ellen Meyer; paternal grandparents, Ernst and Leona Meyer; maternal grandparents, Edmund and Mary Elbert; godfather, Ken Meyer; and godmother, Eileen Bell; uncle, Chuck Bell, and sister-in-law, Brooke Meyer.
