In loving memory of

MARJORIE M. KETOLA
April 22, 1922 - May 14, 2020

Marjorie M. Ketola, age 98, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming, where she had been a resident since October 31, 2018.

Marge was born in Marinette, Wisconsin on April 22, 1922 to Othelia (Behnke) and Edward Kucher. She attended the area Catholic school and Menominee High School through 11th grade. In 1939 the family moved where her father was transferred to the Ishpeming A&P Store to serve as the Meat Dept. Manager.

Marge graduated from Ishpeming High School Class of 1940 and married Peter J. Sarvello. They moved to Chicago, where they had a son, Peter Michael in 1950. She and her son moved back to Ishpeming the following year and her son, Thomas Edward was born in March of 1952. In 1954, she married William "Kelly" Ketola and they had a daughter, Carol Jean in 1955.

Marge was an excellent seamstress. She loved her work, making cheerleading uniforms, designing Halloween costumes and doing alterations of all kinds for family and friends. She was known for her hot pads with her signature heart outlined in rick-rack. She was employed at the H.W. Gossard for 20 years until its closure. She then worked in the bakery at the Westgate IGA and made many friends there. In 1981, she retired to babysit her grandchildren.

During their retirement, Marge and Kelly travelled to Colorado, Utah, Georgia, Nevada and Massachusetts to visit family. The enjoyed card playing, grocery shopping and spending time with their grandchildren. Marge loved to feed a crowd-no number too great-as well as coffee time at the kitchen table. In her younger years, she participated in bowling league and the "Walkers and Talkers" group. She was a member of St. John's Church, the Carnegie Friends of the Library and the VFW Auxiliary.

Marge is survived by her daughter and "favorite-son-in-law", Carol and Jerry Anderson of Ishpeming, three grandsons, Thomas P. Sarvello of New York, Ryan (Kim) Anderson of Ishpeming, Kelly (Meghan) Anderson of Marquette; daughter-in-law, Marjorie Sarvello of Massachusetts; three step-grandchildren, Patrick (Beth) Redman of Massachusetts, Jennifer Redman of Italy, Jessica (Greg) Johnson of Massachusetts; nine great-grandchildren, Sonny, Ivan, Luisa, Junior, Jason, Jordan, Filippo, Makenzie and Harper. Also surviving are a special niece, Nancy (Ken) Runnoe of Peshtigo, WI and her "coffee buddies" the Palomaki and Morton families of Ishpeming. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Robert Kucher, husband and her two sons.

Private graveside services will be held at the Ishpeming Cemetery with Rev. Ryan Ford officiating.

Memorials to Marge may be directed to the Marquette County Medical Care Facility Activity Fund, 200 Saginaw Street, Ishpeming, MI 49849 or St. John's Church, 325 Pine Street, Ishpeming, MI 49849.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the Marquette County Medical Care Facility staff for their excellent, loving and professional care of "Grams" and also thanks to her wonderful suitemate, Nancy Jones, for all the fun times and laughs she and Grams shared. They all made this past 18 months very happy and she was so content living there.
