Thomas W. Keith (Tom), 60, died Sunday, February 4, 2018 at his home in
Forsyth County, GA.
Tom was born in Wilmington, NC on December 22, 1957. He was the son of
Kenneth W. and Shirley L. Keith (both deceased). Tom's dad was a civil
engineer who worked his entire career prior to retiring with the US Army
Corps of Engineers. His mom was a house wife who took care of Tom's
eleven brothers and sisters. The family ended up in Madison, Alabama,
where he met his wife, Kathy. Tom and Kathy were married in 1981 and
they remained in the Huntsville area until Kathy's career took them to
Atmore, Alabama where their son, David Andrew Keith was born. Tom began
his education in Atmore and went on to graduate from the University of
South Alabama with a BS degree in Biology. He worked for Barry Vittor
and Associates and then took a job with MidSouth Testing in Decatur,
Alabama. His career then took a totally different turn into the IT
field which he found he decidedly had a knack for. He began his full
time IT career with the Forsyth County Library in Cumming, GA., where he
worked until his passing.
Tom loved all things outdoors and especially hiking. He will be
remembered by his friends, co-workers and family as a "character" with a
quick smile and quirky wit.
Surviving Tom are his wife, Kathy, son David and his siblings; Arthur,
Edward, Susan, Terry, Steve, Barbara, John, Sharon, Jim, Rob, Richie and
his grandson Kerian.
At his request, he will be cremated at Byars Funeral Home and his
remains scattered at one of his favorite hiking spots later this year.
There will be a casual memorial in his honor at the home of his best
friend, Johnny Douglas, 5830 Rolling Oaks Dr., Cumming, GA., on
Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of cards or flowers, please make a donation in his name to the
Humane Society of Forsyth County, (770) 887-6480.
