In loving memory of

Joe Escobar
September 6, 1943 - December 7, 2019

Jose Escobar was born September 6, 1943, in Hanford, California, to Juan and Maria (Cisneros) Esocbar. Joe, as came to be known, passed away on December 7, 2019, at his home in Whittier, California, surrounded by his family. He was 76.

Joe grew up and went to school in Hanford. While in high school he met the love of his life, Hope (Hopie) Resendez. They were married on March 26, 1963, and shortly thereafter moved to Whittier, California. They were blessed with two children, Bernice and Jose Escobar Jr (JJ or Joe Jr.). Later in life they were blessed with a found daughter, Robin Barbee.

Professionally, Joe was a delivery truck driver for a local nursery for many years. He enjoyed pointing out trees he delivered when he was driving around Southern California with his family. In his free time he enjoyed collecting many different things (Star Trek, coins, ), photography, and gardening. He had a very green thumb and could make anything grow! He also loved riding motorcycles and cheering on the USC Trojan football team.

Joe will be remembered as a hard-working man with an adventurous personality. He was funny, though he had a strange sense of humor. He was also a Dog Whisperer. Most importantly, Joe was a family man. He loved his dear wife, Hope, his children and his grandchildren.

Survivors include Joes wife, Hope Escobar; his daughter, Bernice (Darren) McCurdy and their children Robert (Ednilyn) Fry, Breean Fry (Gregory Bullis) , and Eryn McCurdy; son, Joe (Ashlee) Escobar Jr. and their children, Hayden and Annika Escobar; daughter elect, Robin (Paul) Servanti and their children, Chloe and Paige Servanti; sister, Isabel Antuna; and brothers, Raymond, John, and Abraham Escobar.

A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, December 21, 2019, at White Emerson Mortuary, 13304 Philadelphia St., Whittier, California.
