"I am so sorry for your loss. Catherine assisted me with my taxes early in my career as an RN and advised me immediately to 'buy a house'. I was too busy working, studying for an advanced nursing degree and living life. The next year when I saw her for my taxes she really admonished me for not buying a house. It would be later that year that I took a leap of faith and purchased my home. I have always credited Catherine for guiding me there. May God bless her and angels keep her."

A Two Career Lady
Catherine Marietta Porrazzo-Janowicz was born on February 13, 1939 in Los Angeles, California where she lived for the first six years of her life. Her family moved to Downey, CA and operated a poultry ranch. Cathy attended Catholic Elementary Schools in Huntington Park and Downey, CA, graduating from Pius X High School in 1957.
On August 23, 1958, Catherine married Daniel Janowicz embarking on her first career as a loving wife and mother to four children, Bette, Tony, Steve and Tom. Cathy spent these early years volunteering at the kids schools, being a den mother for cub scouts, being one of the first female Boy Scout parent advisory board members, decorating cakes, and teaching religious education (CCD) at St. Brunos Church in Whittier.
Cathys second career was a Certified Public Account and Enrolled Agent. Her interest in accounting started with a job at J.C. Penneys in the sales audit depart and, from there, a bookkeeping position with Lowell Joint School District. While still raising her family and working she continued her education taking night classes that led her to Cal State Fullerton and several college equivalency tests that allowed her to sit for the CPA exam. She held positions with three CPA firms before establishing her own CPA practice in La Habra, CA. Cathy managed her CPA practice for over 25 years and absolutely loved helping people with their income taxes.
In her later years, Cathy enjoyed playing cards and bunco with numerous friends, traveling to Laughlin, NV and spending time with family and friends.
Cathy passed away in Placentia, California on Thursday, August 04, 2016. She leaves behind four children Bette, Tony (Susan), Steve (Cathy) and Tom (Linda) Janowicz, seven grandchildren, Ashley, Nick, Blake, Jackie, Drew, Stefanie and Christina.
The services will be held at St. Bruno Catholic Church in Whitter; Vigil service: Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 7:00pm Mass of Christian Burial: Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 10:00am. Services will be followed by the Interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Rowland Heights.
