"I am Johnny's niece Krystee. I remember my Uncle as full of life, a story teller, funny, witty, and had a smile that lit up the room. He laughed out loud and was mindful of his words. He was genuine and had a way of making you feel as though the conversation he was having with you was an important one. Though it has been a very long time, some memories don't fade! I feel very saddened today. I was naive in believing I had more time to reconnect. I am grateful for those that commented on this site so I can learn about his past years, and how others came to know and felt about my Uncle Johnny. Thank you."

Ken Young wrote on May 10, 2017:

"John may have lost his battle to the alcohol demon, but he has won the hearts of many with his kindness and generosity. He was the kind of person that would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. His intellect was off the chart and very eager to discuss things with anyone. His smile was a constant reminder of his friendly character. He will be terribly missed by everyone in our family. May your soul rest in peace in heaven. Ken Young and Family"

"'John was one of a kind. He always had this smile on his face with a distinct laugh along with very happy going eyes. He also had a great heart, a genuine at that, which you can truly feel it unwavering. We will all miss you John especially at family functions. At these functions, much is spoken in a different language, and like me, we don't comprehend but the fact that to join in these family functions meant alot, especially to me, as it made it seem less foreign. God bless and from the heavens above, I'm sure you will be radiating that sunny smile as you watch proudly over Sarina, Christina, and Elizabeth, your loving family' David Lee"
