Shirley Norman Sherman
September 19, 1934 - February 9, 2010

Shirley Norman Sherman, age 75, from Norwalk, California passed away on Tuesday February 9, 2010 of natural causes.Shirley was born on September 19th 1934, and raised and in Los Angeles and attended Bishop Conaty Catholic Girls High School. During these years she was part of a dancing group at a Los Angeles German Club. She often spoke quite fondly of how much she enjoyed being a Bavarian Tyrolean Dancer.In 1953, on a summer weekend trip to Catalina Island she met the man she would spend the rest of her life with, James H. Sherman Jr. of Whittier California. They were married On May 1st 1954 in Las Vegas, Nevada.They set up a house in Whittier but soon purchased their first home in Norwalk, California. There they raised their children, played with their grandchildren. This home is where Shirley lived out the rest of her life.She enjoyed camping and fishing, spending time at the beach and loved walking out on the pier. She also delighted in travel, R&B music, cooking, reading and her favorite shopping.Shirley is survived by her husband of 55 years, James Sherman Jr., her 4 children and their spouses, Pamela and James Prather, James H. Sherman III and his wife Cheryl, Kristi Sherman, Dennis Sherman and his wife Bridget.She loved her grandchildren, James IV, Ashley, Kimberlee, Joshua and Eyvette Sherman, as well as Katelyn and Hannah Prather and her brother Michael Weisheitinger.Preceding her were her parents Alfred and Isabelle DeVega, her sisters Betty Mougy and Dorothy Phillips, and her brother Fred Weishietinger.Her memorial service will be held Sunday, February 14, 2010 at White Emerson Mortuary, 13304 E. Philadelphia St. Whittier, California 90601. The family invites all of their friend and family to attend a reception immediately following the service.
