In loving memory of

William McGinnis
May 11, 1931 - January 16, 2020

William Duaine McGinnis was born 11 May 1931 at Blaser, just outside Tunnelton, Preston county, West Virginia; the fourth child of his parents and third son. His mother was Isabelle Virginia Roe born at Newburg, WV and his father William Thomas McGinnis born at Tunnelton.

William Duaine was the last surviving sibling of his immediate family members.

William D. graduated from Preston High School in 1948..

He enlisted in the USAF in 1950, retired in 1971.

He did tours in Alaska, Korea and Vietnam. He was married for the first time on an air base, his children all born on air bases, as well as most of his nieces and nephews. Wm was married 3 times, two of the wives preceded him in death; his first wife the mother of his four children is still living.

One son preceded him in death.

Wm. had four grandchildren and a great grandson of his direct line,

four stepchildren and their descendents.

Wm. was a family man who enjoyed the company of people, a neighborly man who in his long life was an enthusiastic participant in visiting family, friends, and coworkers. H While stationed in Alaska, he hosted many get-togethers, both at rec areas and at his home. He sponsered families coming from the States and helped get them settled.

His career became Communications. He was a Technical Sergeant.

Wm. continued to work after his military retirement for as long as his doctor would permit. Companies included were General Telephone of the Southeast;

followed by AVCO, where he traveled the country installing communications for airports. He was Installation Supervisor for AVCO Services Corporation, and Field Engineer for AVCO/Bell Technical Operations. A vending machine company employed him to maintain machines at theaters, Weeki Wachi, and Silver Springs. Like most of the men of his clan, he loved new inventions, gadgets, tools and education..

Wm. recorded music most of his life. That was his favorite hobby. He played chess, cards, checkers, worked puzzles and crosswords, grew plants, repaired things and built more. He liked swimming in their pool, traveling, and socializing.

He was proud of having lived to the age of 88 yrs.

Survivors include Mr. Bryan McGinnis wife, Tamara; Mrs. Debra Cornett husband, Carlos; Mrs. Sandra Mann husband, Donald; Mr. James Sistler; Mr. John Sistler; Mr. Joe Sistler their respective families.
