"Walt was the first nurse to take care of Kinsley on day 1 of her summer-long admission to Egleston. I was terrified that my precious 2 1/2 year old was headed towards a heart transplant. But Walt's compassion for our entire family, his soothing smile and his expert nursing skills instantly calmed my fears. Walt helped us settle in for an 87-day stay and constantly watched over and encouraged Kinsley throughout her ordeal - whether he was assigned to care for her that day, or not. His love for his own family was always a part of our conversations which added to our confidence that Walt was caring for Kinsley based on the profound and bottomless love he has for Parker. We were incredibly Blessed to be in Walt's care at Egleston and will hold Walt and his family forever in our prayers."

"Rebecca, Parker, Walt, Mary Ann and family, Please know that you are not alone in your grief. We cry, mourn, laugh and pray with you. I wanted you to know that after I left the funeral Friday, I cried out to G-d asking why must we suffer such a tragic loss? Why must You take those special ones who serve You so well? The radio was on in the car but at that moment I changed the station to Victory 91.5 and there was a song playing called 'Time' by Shawn McDonald. It was based on the scripture from Ecclestiastes that Rabbi Cohen had just read a few moments before....."For everything there's a reason, for everything there's a rhyme, for everything there's a season, for everything there's a time", and that was G-od's answer to my plea for the reason He took Walt so soon.....it was His time, His mysterious reason which we all struggle with trying to comprehend. Perhaps his death is meant to bring us all together in love for you that remain. And so we love. Mark, Lisa and Emily Konrad"

"I am so sorry to hear of the sudden, tragic loss of our friend Walt. Walt and I were in the BSN program together at Emory. He was incredibly bright and a wonderful leader. We never had a conversation that didn't include a story about his wife and son. His love for his family was so evident. His dedication as a father carried over into his career as a pediatric RN as he truly had a gift for caring for patients so well. He will be missed dearly. Love and prayers to his beautiful family."

"My name is Matthew Moore and I worked with Walt on the CSU where he was my preceptor. I was paired with Walt for approximately 6 weeks. He was such a great teacher. He knew how to give me just the right amount of supervision and just enough room on my leash to feel on my own. He was a fabulous nurse that took the time to make sure things were done correctly while making sure the family always had everything that they needed. There were times when I would look up and there was Walt, holding a child that didn't have any parents there to do the job themselves. I will hold dear the time that I got to have with your husband. He spoke so highly and often of both of you. Parker was the light of his life, and I hope that he never forgets how much his father loved him. I will pray for you and your family. There is a special spot in Heaven for Walt and I can only pray that I get to see him again one day.Matthew Moore "

"I met Walt while at Egleston with my son Ryan. Walt was Ryan's nurse several times when he was in the CSU. I always felt safe knowing he was taking care of Ryan bc of the attention and dedication he gave him while on his shift. There were times when I had been up there so long and I was fustrated that when he would come to do Ryan's meds or feed, he would talk to me about it and encouraged me to keep going. Ryan loved Walt. I honestly believe that he was one of his favorites. One of the best memories I have was cape day last year when Walt walked in wearing his cape and gave Ryan his cape. The joy on Ryan's face was priceless. Ryan passed this March but Walt's dedication and encouragement has never left. We will never be able to repay him for the comfort he gave our son while he was there. I believe that when Walt entered glory, Ryan was there to greet him with a smile. You will be in my prayers in the coming weeks, months, and years. Love the King family."
