"I am so sorry for your loss. I only had the opportunity to know Dave for a year once he arrived at XL, but right away you could tell he was a great guy - he really cared about his job and his people, and the way he talked about his family you knew that he was a great husband and father. He will be missed in many ways - the entire Schmitz family is in our thoughts and prayers. Deepest Condolences, Tim Heinze and family"

"Dave and meI remember meeting Dave "Buck" in 1985,when Carolyn took me to meet her mom and dad in Evergreen Park.I was in the kitchen when Buck came into the room, he greeted me with a hearty hand shake welcoming me to their home.Carolyn mentioned to Buck that we had things in common,we were both engineers and we both played hockey.I remember trading stories with Buck in the basement where he had his room along with all his guitars and keyboards. We sat and listened to some LPs and soon Buck was strumming his guitar. As Carolyn,Buck and I sat there singing to the music I remember feeling as if I had known him for years, his easygoing and steady nature made him very easy to like and enjoy being around.I was always amazed at his ability to go from a serious conversation regarding engineering/logic based systems to a relaxed musical jam session. His ability to communicate effectively and switch from logical thinking to artistic display without missing a beat always made me envious of his rare talents.Dave was the standard to measure oneself against, ie:love of family, expertise in his profession, and personal growth of his many talents, he was the complete man and human being. I feel blessed that I was given the opportunity to have met and been part of a friendship of more than 30 years. To my friend,my brother-in-law,and colleague, you shall forever remain in my heart and soul until we meet again. With love and respect,Roger"Lokelo""
