Tributes

Craig Patty Nick and Cait Galasso wrote on Dec 1, 2012:

"Our friend Chuck Chuck never failed to light up the room with his good spirt and charming humor. His showing of care can not and will not ever be forgotten. I remember our families getting together at Rosella's and sharing stories. An instant hit with his younger cousins Cait and Nick, Chuck touched the hearts of the entire Galasso family. Chuck will always live on in our hearts and in our memories. Craig Patty Nick and Cait"

Dave Wilson wrote on Nov 29, 2012:

"Chuck was tough as nails but had the warmest smile that I will not soon forget."

"Two of the most precious years of my teaching career were at Sequoyah High School sponsoring the wonderful Class of 1980. I attended 3 of the reunions, but unfortunately Chuck was not present at the last one. I had brought a few mementos that I had kept over the years in a scrapbook. I just read Ken Escoe's tribute and it made me think that this was a great time to tell everyone that I had kept a caricature drawn by Chuck in my study hall entitled "Chuck Walkerre" as a Frenchman in Paris and I so wanted him to see it. I think sometimes students don't ever realize how special they are and how they remain that way for many years to come. We really do keep things that bring back wonderful memories of times past. After being in my French class for 2 years and then choosing to be in my study hall, I was blessed with seeing the twinkle in his eye each day that he entered my class. You always knew he was up to something and it would probably be a surprise. It was a difficult time accepting study hall students in your classroom while you were trying to teach, but somehow, Chuck made everyone look forward to French everyday and my job became so much easier. He and Tom Gibbs were very special together in that study hall. The last thing I remember about "Gregoire"(his chosen French name in my class)was after the last graduation practice, he burst into my classroom, and I think most teachers would have been a little angry since we were all still getting students ready for their exams, but that was not the case for me. He came over the desk where I was sitting in and kissed me on the cheek and thanked me for being his teacher and friend for 4 years. I will struggle with his passing for some time since students are not suppose to die before their teachers. I had always hoped to see him at another reunion. Living in Florida and just having a hip replacement makes it impossible for me to be at the memorial, but I know he will have plenty of family and friends there. We have all lost a very special person, and from the pictures and comments on facebook, an incredible friend and father to his 3 daughters."

"MOUNTAIN MUSIC & MEDICINE SHOW--DAHLONEGAChuck volunteered to help with the Mountain Music & Medicine Show in our early days. He said he would do anything at all to help. Volunteers say that routinely but not many were like Chuck--he would do anything & everything needed to get the production on its feet each time. He was a good man. He and his daughters took over the Sound Effects on our live GPB Radio broadcast. I dubbed them them the Chuckettes. He was delighted! Ava, his middle girl, has been, often with one or more of her friends, the "Chuckettes" for the last few years. Chuck would make sure their table was set up and equipped properly with sound f/x "stuff", and then watch her(them) and beam like the doting dad he was. I will miss him. We all will. R.I.P. Chuck Walker"

Mike Regan wrote on Nov 28, 2012:

"I am very sorry to hear about my cousin Chuck's passing. I have fond memories of our family get togethers on Christmas night at Grandma Kathryn and Grandpa George Regan's house. I am thinking and praying for all of the Walker family."

Dorothy Farmer wrote on Nov 27, 2012:

"My FriendChuck and I were friends through work. He was the most helpful person one could wish for; always sharing his ideas and how to make things better. You never got very far in conversation with Chuck before you knew about his beautiful daughters and how proud he is to be their papa. He loved it when one would help him with the music festival and loved the one in sports. And he loved ALL his daughters passionately and soundly. You have that legacy of love; keep it close. He loves you and always will. He was so thankful that he and his Dad were communicating; meant a lot to him. Chuck and I kept in touch even after he left MFG.com. I spoke with him many times and we did talk about God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. I believe Chuck is in heaven now and we will be with him again for all eternity. Knowing Jesus as your Lord and Savior is the only important thing in the world. The only thing that lasts is love and it will last forever. Chuck, I cherish your memory and will miss you very much."

"To the Walker family: I was so sorry to hear of the recent passing of Chuck. I can't imagine losing him at such an early age. You are all in my thoughts and prayers at this most difficult time."

Ken Escoe wrote on Nov 27, 2012:

"Our family would like to extend our sincere and heartfelt sympathy to the entire Walker family for the sudden loss of their father, their brother and their beloved son. We will especially pray for Wendy to receive the grace that comes only from our Heavenly Father to comfort her during this difficult time. Though it has been many years since I had last seen Chuck my memories of him when we were children and teenagers growing up are very fond. Chuck's smile was infectious, his wit made him one of the funniest people I have ever known and his artistic abilities allowed him to draw just about anything in the world and ALWAYS made it a cartoon. In high school I always admired his determination on the athletic field and in the weight room, he had no equal. May the Lord in His infinite mercy bless you and carry you in His arms during this most difficult time in your lives and remember that you are all children of the Most High God."

Jim Williamson wrote on Nov 27, 2012:

"To the family and friends of Chuck, After a few days to think about the sudden loss of Chuck, I am left with a few thoughts. My heart and prayers are with the family and all that feel the loss of Chuck's passing. Chuck leaves behind many that enjoyed the impact of his influence upon their lives. Chuck's family and especially his daughters felt his love and pride in them. Chuck's friends remember him as being one that relished life and lived it in a way that was enviable. I was not as close to Chuck as others, however I respected him and admired the man Chuck was. In closing, I would like to relate especially to Chris and Scott, that I truly feel for you both. I know your loss is a sincerely piercing pain. Chuck was the kind of man, that I would have wanted to be my brother. God bless you all. Jim Williamson"

"I had the pleasure of knowing Chuck as a friend and colleague. It's been some years since we've seen each other but his passing greatly saddens me. Upon reflection I cannot for the life of me recall a time where Chuck didn't have a smile on his face. He had a great sense of humor and we shared a passion for music. I can only imagine the heartache that those close to him are going through. My thoughts and prayers go out to those who knew and loved him."

Brian Martin wrote on Nov 27, 2012:

"I don't know really where to start with all of this. Chuck was a part of my life for so long and in the best part of all. Growing up... My mind is always and will be a wash with wonderful memories of times spent with him. Football practice. Games, Baseball, Chucks Ted Nugent impression. Best air Guitar on Stranglehold of all time. I was running beside him when He went down on the sideline and blew out the knee. I remember the orange flame! Those 3 foot speakers in the Walker Basement. On the Tracks at UGA for the 1980 Season. The radio station in Athens watching him DJ. A life full of memories. I wish you all peace. He was a Great Friend and Man. Love to you all."

"Dear Walker Family - you are all in our thoughts and prayers today and for the many days to come. All of us who went through Northwoods and Sequoyah are heartbroken that Chuck is gone. He was precious to all of us. I have such wonderful memories from those years of all those "crazy boys!" They could certainly bring you to tears of laughter. I will always remember Chuck smiling - and cherish the smile he always brought to all of us."
