"Well, I can not belive it has been a year since you left us. I miss you so much, but Jerry has missed you even more. You were like a Brother to him! To make a bad thing worse, not 6 months after you left Ricky died. He just lost the will to live. Jerry feels like He lost you both too soon. He has been so sad.I will be thinking of you tomorrow and praying for your Children. I love you still my Friend!"

"I have been taking my three-year-old son to practice his bike riding at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens, while my six-year-old son is in gymnastics a Dobbs Creek. It's quiet, peaceful, safe, there isn't a lot if traffic, and the roads are pretty level- which is a tough combination to find. Today while he was riding, we saw a police car, followed by a black-draped firetruck bearing a flag-draped casket on its roof, as it came down the main road followed by a string of cars. My son stopped riding and we stepped back until everyone was settled. We found a spot on a bench by the duck pond as they brought the casket off of the truck while a trumpet played. We saw the guns fire and heard the bell ring. Before we waked back to our van to go get my oldest son, I asked the grounds crew if the deceased was active or retired. They said he was 51, and they thought he was active. I was very moved. My and I said a prayer for him and his family and I reminded my son to ask God to protect those in our family who work in law enforcement (my cousin's husband and my best friend's husband) and the fire department (my brother in law). We had just about reached our van when I made my son stop again and listen to Taps being played by the trumpeter. It really was an honor to see the fire truck serve in this capacity, all the careful details, and such respect being paid to the memory of "one of their own." I got to really talk to my son about what it means to be a hero. Based on the description I found here, I think it was Lynn we saw laid to rest today. Please know that he has touched even those who did not know him, and that his family will be in my prayers. May the Lord grant him eternal."
