Melinda Renee Young (Conley), passed away February 1, 2012 following a nearly 5 year inspirational battle against cancer. Born in Marietta, GA on January 9, 1970 she resided there until 1978 before moving to Lawrenceville where she lived until her marriage in 1998. She found her dream home ultimately settling in Cumming, GA. A homemaker at the time of her death, she retired from teaching in 2010 after more than 17 years. Her career began with Lumpkin County Schools in 1992, followed by several years with the Forsyth County School System, and finally with Primrose Schools. She received many honors during the course of her life, most notably, Miss North College Pageant winner, 1991; Masters Degree in Education, 1993; and Primrose School's Teacher of the Year, 2009. She was preceded in death by her father, Josiah Eugene Conley III, and is survived by her husband, John C. Young; daughters, Caroline Renee and "Rachel Rose"Young; mother, Ina Lou Conley (Bannister); sister, Janet Elaine McGiboney (Conley); nephew, Tyler Conley McGiboney; niece, Renee "Ansley" McGiboney; and a number of other relatives also survive. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 4th at 2 p.m. at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Preacher Matthew Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday, February 3rd from 2 to 4 and again from 6 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Humane Society of Forsyth County Animal Shelter (a no kill shelter) or Embracing Hospice, Cumming, GA.
