Clarence H. Casey
April 14, 1928 - April 25, 2020

Clarence Henry Casey, passed away at his home on April 25, 2020, with family at his side. He was 92 years old. A private family Funeral Mass will be live streamed on the St. Cecelia, Algona, IA Youtube page at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2020, with the Reverend Edward M. Girres officiating. Burial will be in the St. Benedict Cemetery.

Clarence was born on a farm near Bode, IA, on April 14, 1928. Clarence was the middle son of Robert E. and Mary C. (Schmidt) Casey. He attended country grade school and graduated from Lu Verne High School in 1945.

Clarence met his wife, Elise (Eller), at the Algona skating rink, they were married on January 11, 1951, in Algona, IA.

In high school Clarence played basketball and after graduation he was the floor manager of the roller rink in Humboldt, IA. He enjoyed bowling; fishing with his family and in later years, Elise and Clarence went dancing.

Clarence farmed and farming was his passion. He raised corn, soybeans and especially enjoyed raising cattle. Along with market cattle, he milked cows and raised hogs. Clarence received numerous awards for his corn and soybean yields from the Iowa Master Corn and Soybean Grower's Contest and the Pioneer Champions Club.

Along with farming, gardening was something Clarence enjoyed. There was always sweet corn to freeze, chickens to butcher and garden produce to harvest and preserve.

Faith was very important to Clarence, he was a long time member of the St. Benedict Catholic Church, serving as usher for parish funerals, and upon its closing, became a member of St. Cecelia's Catholic Church, Algona, IA.

Left to cherish Clarence's memory, his wife of 69 years, Elise. Son, Robert (Trish) Casey of Lu Verne, IA, daughter, Marilyn Casey, of Marion, IA and daughter-in-law, Barbara Casey, Lu VerneIA; 6 grandchildren, Greg (Sarah) Casey, Brian (Nicole) Casey, Sara Casey, Danielle (Brian) Fischer, Miranda Casey and Kelsey Casey, along with 9 great-grandchildren, Collin, Isabel, Drew, Alaina, Eli, Alice, Kaylee, Blake and Stetson. Clarence is also survived by a brother, Marion (Helen) Casey of Lu Verne, IA, and many nieces and nephews.

Clarence was preceded in death by his sons, Stephen and Michael, his parents and brother, Eugene Casey, granddaughter-in-law and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
