In loving memory of

DORIS E. "BETTY" ZABOROWSKE
February 29, 1940 - April 7, 2020

Doris Elizabeth "Betty" Zaborowske, 80, unexpectedly passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at her home.

She was born February 29, 1940 in Negaunee, a daughter of the late Delore and Bertha (Hiironen) LaChance. She was raised in various towns growing up, as the family moved often to accommodate her father's work, but her true home was the Palmer/Soumi and Gwinn areas.

Betty married Gerald J. Zaborowske, Sr. in Saginaw, Michigan on August 31, 1957. They were married 49 years, until his death in 2006.

Betty attended Saginaw High School. She later was a proud high school graduate of the Gwinn High School Adult Education Program in 1976.

Throughout her life, Betty held numerous and varied jobs. She worked as a waitress, a hostess, a bookkeeper, in a factory setting, as an apartment building manager and owner, at a women's shelter and owned and operated a dry-cleaning store. In her retirement years, Betty greatly enjoyed participating in local craft bazaars with her daughter, Vicky, at her side selling many handmade creations and baked goods, volunteering at her local St. Vincent DePaul food pantry, reading, babysitting great-grandchildren, and hosting tea parties for her great-grandchildren.

Betty was a devout member of Gwinn's St. Anthony Catholic Church for many years. As part of her faith, she had taught catechism classes and was once greatly involved in the Ladies Knights of Columbus.

She is survived by four children, Gerri Ann (William) Zaborowske-Kangas of Gwinn, Gerry (Michele) Zaborowske of Gwinn, Victoria (Bruce) Cram of Gwinn, John (Melanie) Zaborowske of Spring, TX and daughter-in-law, Lisa Zaborowske of Denmark, WI; her grandchildren, Brent (Sheena) Zaborowske, Wade Zaborowske, Lisa Cram, Bruce (Amy) Cram, Jessica Cram, Richie (Brianne) Zaborowske, Holly (Alex) Hanson, Alexandra Zaborowske and Jordan Zaborowske; great-grandchildren, Marley, Jodie, Wil, Keagan, Guthrie, Marlowe and Lilly; sister, Beverly (Bob) Palade of Lake Zurich, IL. Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Zaborowske, Sr.; parents, Delore and Bertha LaChance; son, William Zaborowske; sister, Berniece Fryczynski; and brother, Paul LaChance.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 26, 2020 at 11 am at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Rev. Allen Mott officiating. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks will be required. The Mass will be livestreamed on St. Anthony Catholic Church's Facebook page. Interment will be held in the Bakkala Cemetery.
