In loving memory of

Mark Bushman
June 5, 1968 - March 29, 2020

Mark Curtis Bushman, 51, of Kenyon died unexpectedly Sunday, March 29, 2020. Mark was born June 5, 1968, in Rochester, MN to Lawrence "Larry" and Wilma (Jeide) Bushman. He grew up in Utica, MN, and graduated from St. Charles High School in 1986. After graduation Mark served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. After serving his country Mark worked at Crenlo, IBM and Coca-Cola. For the last 14 years Mark was employed by Malt-O-Meal.
Mark married Kelly Campbell on July 27, 1991 and they lived in Eyota with their children, Jamie and Chris. They later divorced and Mark eventually moved to Kenyon.
Mark struggled with sobriety for many years and he was very proud to have been sober for the last 13 years, 11 months and 14 days. Mark took an active role with helping others struggling with sobriety. He was a kind, gentle man with a laid-back personality who was also a great listener that never gave up on anyone. Mark enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, hanging out with his sons, having coffee and swishers while talking with family and friends especially Gary Heim, golfing and watching football and baseball.

"Mark was one of my best friends for over 30 years, and we are both friends of Bill W. I have too many memories to list, but we golfed together 10 times every summer. He was a masher in football and we played against each other for several years before playing Legion Baseball together in St. Charles. The three weeks prior to his leaving for the service and my leaving for college, we took daily drives that can only be described as risk taking. We connected again in the 90\'s, and became extremely close over the past 13 years. I have lost more than a friend and think of him daily. Deepest sympathies to the entire family. He was a great man."

I do however know his son Jamie and I will say this, he raised a good kid, I\'m very proud of him and how he changed his life. I would ask Jamie how his dad was doing whenever I talked to him, and he was proud to say he was doing good. You are all in my prayers."

"My heart and prayers go out to Lawrence, Wilma, Randy, Julie, Cheryl Jamie, Chris and the rest of Marks family and friends. I remember the first time I saw mark, it feels like it wasn\'t that long ago, I was standing by the entrance Door at the VA, Mark walked in wearing a Minnesota Gophers hat, we glanced over at each other and smiled, he had the most heartwarming smile, over the next few months we got to know each other, Mark was sweet and caring, very laid back, and fun to be around. Who would have thought we would spend the next 16 years together. we had some rough patches, but Mark was always there for me regardless of the circumstances. Mark and I loved each other very much, all the way up until the end, he never gave up on us. I\'m so grateful I got the chance to tell him how much I love him, and how sorry I am for the pain I caused him, not knowing that it would be the last time! I have so many wonderful memories of mark to keep in my heart. He is the.love of my life and always will be. I love you mark and miss you everyday! my prayers are with you all, thank you Lawrence and Wilma and everyone for opening your hearts and making feel like part of your family. I pray one day you all find peace in your heart!"

"Over a weekend there was 1 snowmobile parked by three Golden Horn lot. Mark and I wondered stay was wrong with it and why there was just one. Well I said let's see if it starts. I pulled on that thing til I was worn out, then Mark took his turn. No luck it didn't start. We did this several times when finally on the Saturday night on the final attempt it started. We both jumped on the thing and took off. We went all over around town having the time of our lives getting stuck a bunch of times as the snow was deep. When we got back to the restaurant there must have been 20 sleds in the lot and Wilma came running out of the back kitchen door shaking her fist at us. Turns out this sleds owner was part of this group and couldn't get it to run when they left back on Friday. The owner showed us some kind of badge, thinking back in it I think it was a fireman's badge, but we both were scared we were in serious trouble. The owner asked us if we had fun and we said yes and asked if we broke anything and we hadn't abs then asked how we got it running. We told him we pulled on it around 1,000 times and it started. "
