JAMES G. "BRUCE" CAMPEAU

James G. “Bruce” Campeau, 76, of Skandia, died Tuesday morning, May 2, 2017 at UP Health System Marquette.

He was born June 16, 1940 in Laurium, Michigan, a son of the late Clarence N. and Elma J. (Erkkila) Campeau and was a 1957 graduate of Lake Linden High School.

Bruce married Deana Ruonavar in Laurium on December 17, 1966.

He worked in tool & die for most of his career starting at Burroughs Tool & Die in Detroit then at Boeing in Seattle, Washington, before returning to the Upper Peninsula where he married his wife of 50 years and started a career at Ripley Formatic as a foreman and later moved to Marquette to work at Presque Isle Power Plant where he quickly advanced to maintenance foreman until he retired in 2002.

Bruce was a member of the Moose and Elks Lodge and worshiped at Lake Superior Christian Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid Chicago Bears fan.

He is survived by his wife, Deana Campeau of Skandia; children, Renee Campeau of Skandia and Craig Campeau of Buffalo, MN; grandchildren, Caitlyn and Anthony; brother-in-law, Fred Ruonavar of Severn, MD; sister, Virginia Codere of Lake Linden, MI; niece, Patty Maynarich; brother’s-in-law, Neal Ruonavar and Dean Ruonavar; sister-in-law, Donita LaJoie. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of Bruce’s life will be held at a later date. Please contact his son or daughter for more information via Facebook.
