JOHN "JACK" BRADY MITCHELL
May 20, 1943 - September 26, 2019

John Jack Brady Mitchell, 76, of Engadine, died Thursday, September 26, 2019 at the McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey with his family by his side.

He was born May 20, 1943 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, a son of the late Orville and Albertine (LaLonde) Mitchell. He was a 1961 graduate of Gwinn High School, earned a Bachelors degree from Michigan Tech in 1966 and earned a Masters degree from Marquette University in 1973.

Jack worked his entire career as an electrical engineer. He also wrote a book on AC Drives in 1988.

Jack was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary from 1988 to 2017 and the Knights of Columbus since 1970.

He will be remembered as a wonderful family man.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife of 50 years, Rita Mitchell.

Jack is survived by his wife, Peggy (Lamb) Mitchell, whom he married on November 22, 2017 in Chesapeake, VA; children, Sherry (Jon Hatton) Wozniak, Pamela (George) Zarnich, Gary (Kim) Mitchell, Wendy (Jim) Butz; step-sons, Glen (Michelle) and Jason (Mona) Breault; 15 grandchildren, Ian, Emily, Madison, Cameron, Tye, Riley, Finnley, Haydn, Elizabeth, Isaac, Adam, Alex, Samantha, Beau & Carson; brothers, Boyne Mitchell, Michael Mitchell, Mark (Amber) Mitchell; sisters, Sharon (William) Dani, Margaret Higson and Jill (Bruce) Paris; and numerous nieces & nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at 3 pm at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Rev. Allen Mott officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the mass in the Baraga Room at the church. Interment will take place in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens in Chesapeake, VA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Knights of Columbus St. Anthony Parish.
