Brett R, Lunney, age 38, born on August 12, 1977, of Green Bay, WI, formerly of Marquette, died unexpectedly on December 3, 2015 in Green Bay.
"Gronk," as he was fondly known by those close to him, was a gentle soul who is now at peace. Brett was caring and helped anyone in need, often giving until he had nothing himself. With a laugh that could be heard above all others and a quick wit that brought a smile to those around him, Brett touched many lives. He loved his friends and family wholeheartedly. He enjoyed living life and was a diehard Packers, Red Wings and Michigan fan.
He will be dearly missed by those he leaves behind especially his mother, Patti (Clement) Lunney; sister, Bobbie Jo (Beej); brothers, Cliff and Jeff; also several nieces and nephews.
Brett was preceded in death by his father, (George) Brian Lunney; paternal grandmother, Edith Lunney and maternal grandparents, Cliff and Margaret Clement.
The Lunney family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday at the Canale-Tonella Funeral Home, 526 N. Third St., Marquette, MI from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. Peter Cathedral with the Rev. Msgr. Michael Steber officiating. Interment will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
Brett's obituary can also be viewed at canalefuneral.com where relatives and friends may leave a note of remembrance.

"Brett or Lunney as I called him endearingly moved from Marquette to Green Bay and into my apartment in Howard with Richey. I remember his love for the Packers well because even thought he Pack was on a 30 year Super Bowl drought- he looked me in the eye, with Camel cig in hand and exclaimed "Charlie, Packers are winning the Super Bowl this year"- well, Lunney was right! 1996 was an amazing year! I thought about you often Brett- still do! It broke my heart to get that phone call from Joel all the way down here in AZ- love you bud! You will always hold a very special place in my heart!

"I am completely devastated and lost for words. May God put His loving arms around my dear longtime neighbors Patty, Bobbi Jo, and Cliff and carry them all through this most tragic time of thei lives. I have always loved all of you and I thank God that Brett was part of my life. I loved his carefree spirit and his crazy sense of humor. He always made me laugh. Now he has joined his dad "the Lunn" in heaven above. Gronk adored his Daddy and missed him so much. Until the day that we are reunited in heaven above, may GOD THROUGH JESUS CHRIST give all of you strength and peace. You can not do this alone. God will lead you through this dark path until there is light again. Love you, Pam Lovell xoxoxo"

"I have known Brett myself for several years. Brett was one of those people, one of those shining souls that made you glad you intersected in life with him. He was the sweetest and most gentle of souls, I can never remember a time when I and Brett crossed paths that I did not smile, Brett had a smile that brightened a room and brightened your day, and made you forget anything that was perhaps bothering you at the time. Coming to the news that Brett has left us saddened me, the world without Brett will assuredly be noticed-I know I will miss him and my thoughts have been filled with the joy and inspiration he brought in my world. When I think of Brett I will always think of joy, laughter, strength and courage.
God's speed Brett, Blessings my friend.
My thoughts are with you and your family

"I was saddened to hear about Brett. I've known him as long as I can remember. Growing up in our neighborhood was an adventure only those of us who lived there can understand...Sledding down the big hill on Waldo, baseball in the field on Summit, riding bikes, street hockey, epic games of hide and seek or tag in the woods...Brett was always a part of that. We all had some great times. I only ran into him once since graduation but thought about him from time to time when thinking or talking about the old neighborhood. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Lunney family. I hope he can now be at peace."

He left the group and came over to visit with us and say goodbye. It was a special conversation. He loved his family so much. In the seeds of this life, we find hope for a better life to come May it comfort you to know that Brett is now at peace, and that he will be watching over each of you."
