Carmena Annunciation Gualazzi , age 87 of 1302 North Bay Court , Marquette, was called home to the Lord on June 25, 2014 in the care of her loving family and Lake Superior Hospice.
Carmena was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan on March 25, 1927 to Biaggio and Rose Fazi. Nick and Carmen grew up across the street from each other in the Soo and were childhood sweethearts. After attending Soo High School Carmen moved to Chicago to work and be near her sister, Mary. When Nick returned from World War II they were married on February 1, 1947 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sault Ste. Marie. They lived in Chicago for a few years and returned to the Soo in 1955. Nick entered the insurance business and was transferred to Marquette in1967. Carm worked along with Nick in his State Farm Insurance office for many years.
Her greatest love was her family, children and grandchildren. She loved to cook and did so at many big family gatherings. Her specialty was authentic, Italian dishes. She enjoyed attending St Louis the King Church where her cousin, Father Ben Paris is pastor. She was a lifetime member of the Christopher Columbus Ladies Auxiliary in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Nicholas, of 67 years and her four children, Judy (Ronnie) Morgan, Nick Jr. (Kristine) and Susan (Geoff) Weston all of Marquette, and Tony (Kellie) Gualazzi of Bloomington, IL; also her beloved grandchildren, Dylan (Ellen) Morgan of Portland, OR, Michael Morgan of Grand Rapids, MI, Nick Gualazzi of Chicago, IL, Annabel and Christina Gualazzi of Los Angeles, CA, Paloma Caskey of Portland, OR, Geoffrey (Katie) Weston of Minneapolis, MN, Tony Weston of San Francisco, CA, Nick Weston of East Lansing, MI, and one adored great-granddaughter, Ava Morgan of Grand Rapids, MI. Carm was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Paoli and brothers, Valentino and Michael Fazi.
Her kindness, caring ways and love of tradition and family have inspired all who knew her, but especially her children and grandchildren. She will live on in our hearts forever.
Visitation will be held at St. Louis the King Catholic Church in Marquette on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 12 Noon where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon on Saturday with the Very Rev. "My sincere condolences to the family of Carmena Annunciation Gualazzi It was never the Creators purpose for mankind to suffer (Romans 5:12). May God give you peace through his promise to comfort us (2 Corinthians 1:3, 4). We are promised a time when no one will say "I am sick" (Isaiah 33:24). Cherish all the happy memories of your loved one and I hope that you are consoled by Bible assurances of a hopeful future (John 17:3)."

"Dear Uncle Nick and family....No words can express how sad I was to hear of Aunt Carmen's passing. My brother Val called me last night with the news, "I am so sorry"!! Uncle Nick I want you to know that I feel privileged to not only have you both as an Aunt and Uncle but also as my Godparents. When I was a little girl, my dad used to tell me so many times how much I reminded him of his little sister....maybe that's why he named me after her. I feel honored to carry on Aunt Carmen's name. I've attached two pictures, the first was taken when you both came to Connecticut to christen me,1954. That's Aunt Carmen, my dad holding me at 3 months old. The second picture is my wonderful dad whom I miss more than words can say, and me at 23....we were shoveling snow, it was taken in 1975. Uncle Nick, I know Aunt Carmen is with her big brother now, I'm sure he was there to greet her...."heaven just received it's newest Angel".
My love to you and your family....
Your Goddaughter,
Carmen Ann (Fazi) White"

"Dear Uncle Nick and family, I am sad to hear about Aunt Carmen. I'm even more sad I couldn't get to see you all again. My brother Buddy called me last night quite sad. We talked about how glad we were that we came to the soo for Uncle Mike's 100th birthday years ago. Don't tell me how many years it's been since that event because it will make me feel really old when I realize just how long ago that was. It was so good to see all of you, my dads buddys and the neighborhood he grew up in. It was a memorial trip also that I got to share with my older sister and brother. I see by the memorial page I have some cousins in Portland Oregon. My youngest daughter lives there also. I should hook them up. My thoughts are with you. I know my dad is probably talking to her right now as I know he missed her a lot. My love to you all:'( :'( come to RI to visit Joan Mary Fazi Freemer"
