In loving memory of

RUTH J. MORRISON
June 29, 1915 - March 29, 2011

Ruth J. Morrison, 95, of Marquette passed away Tuesday evening, March 29, 2011 with her loving family at her side.

Mrs. Morrison was born on June 29, 1915 in Cohoes, New York to Eugene and Josephine (Connor) Comeau. She had lived in Marquette since 1984 after raising her family in Duluth, Minnesota and Merrillville, Indiana.

Ruth was employed with New England Telephone & Telegraph during the Great Depression and Second World War.

She was a devout member of St. Michael Catholic Church. Ruth had a passion for education that she instilled in her grandchildren and as a volunteer in the Catholic schools. She enjoyed knitting, read voraciously, and traveled the world-attending Chicago Cubs baseball and visiting Europe well into her 80's. Ruth lived to enjoy time with her family, and always was one of the last ones dancing at a celebration.

Ruth's spirit was overwhelmingly positive. Whether marveling at the beauty of nature, or the blessings of friends and family, she maintained that life was an amazing gift.

Survivors include her children, William H. (Ann) Morrison of Wilmington, NC, Linda J. Morrison and Mary L. Kramer, both of Marquette, and Elizabeth A. Hall of Duluth, MN; fifteen grandchildren, 9 great grand children, five nieces, one nephew, and a brother-in-law; Donald Duclos of Hickory, NC. She was preceded in death by the true love of her life, husband William H. Morrison, second mother Catherine O'Brien, a daughter Cathleen M. Emlich, one brother, Eugene Comeau, and a sister Helen "Honey" Duclos.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Michael Catholic Church with Rev. Larry VanDamme officiating. Friends may call at the church beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday. Rite of Committal will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery in the spring.

Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Sisters of St. Paul de Chartres, County Rd. 492, Marquette, MI 49855 or Father Marquette Schools, 500 S. Fourth St., Marquette, MI 49855 in Ruth's memory.

"Dearest Children & Grandchildren, It is with deep sadness I send my sympathy on the passing of your mom/grandmother. Ruthie has been a special friend to me, my daughter Elizabeth, and my mom Leona for many years. She has touched my/our hearts in such a sweet way that will forever stay with us. High tea with the lovely china cups and treats were such fun. Ruthie and I held many family talks that comforted us both over our long and special friendship. I regret I will be out of town for my friends funeral but know she is, as well as you her family will be in my heart and prayers. God Bless you Ruthie and God has a new special angel. With sympathy & love, Jill Koski & Family"

"Linda, Mary and Family, It looks like your Mom is sitting in front of her apartment. What a lovely photo. My stepdaughter, Jennifer, lived upstairs from her and your Mom asked if she could come upstairs to see the wedding dress we were making for Jen. Her visit marked the importance of the occasion like only someone from her generation could and we felt honored. She was very thoughtful. Take care of yourselves."
