Marian Ellen Fleury, 94, of Marquette, died Monday afternoon, at Marquette General Hospital.
She was born December 28, 1915, in Royal Oak, Michigan, a daughter of the late Fred and Charlotte (Hammond) Swanson.
Marion attended St. Peter Cathedral and St. Mary's Catholic Church in Big Bay. She was a former member of Marquette Golf & Country Club and Riverview Golf & Country Club in Brownsville, Texas. She served as a volunteer at Marquette General Hospital and at a hospital in Brownsville. Marion enjoyed antiques.
She is survived by five children, Margaret Lukas of Brookfield, WI, Sr. Barbara Fleury C.S.J. of Marquette, Emerson (Linda) Fleury of Big Bay, Fred Fleury M.D. of Springfield, IL and Peter J. Fleury of Manteca, CA; sisters, Agnes TenEyck of Big Bay, Hazel Blankenfeld of Alamogordo, NM and Betty Haupt of Las Vegas, NV; 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, A. Emerson Fleury; parents; 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 23, 2010 at 2 p.m. in St. Peter Cathedral with Rev. Michael Steber officiating. Visitation will be held in the Bishop's Room of the church for one hour prior to the mass. Entombment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
The Canale-Tonella Funeral Home is assisting the family.
