BARRY JAMES DELARYE
August 29, 1944 - September 21, 2009

Barry James Delarye, 65, of Gwinn, died Monday morning at his home in Gwinn.

He was born August 29, 1944, in Negaunee, a son of the late J. Nelson and Alice Delarye and was a lifelong area resident. On February 13, 1988 he married the former Linda Culliton.

Barry worked as a miner for CCI and most recently was employed in housekeeping with the Ojibwa Casino prior to his retirement due to illness.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing his guitar.

Barry is survived by his wife, Linda Delarye of Gwinn; children, Lauri Miller of Edwardsburg, MI, John (Melissa) Delarye of Sturgis, MI, Jim (Michelle) Delarye of White Pigeon, MI, Joseph Ellis of Negaunee; Tanya (Craig) Hanninen of Gwinn and Michelle (Tom) Verboczki of Gwinn; grandchildren, Sarah, Taylor, Jarad, Logan, Courtney, Ashley, Preston, Jamie Lynn, Montana, Kaytlinn, Sierra, Savanah, Hunter, Kaiylah, Kyle, Michel and Jordon. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandchild, Dylan Delarye.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

"Linda my thoughts and prays are with you and your family during this time of sorrow. I used to work with Barry at the Ojibwa Casino. He was fun to work with it and be around. Barry was always able to make people laugh. He will be greatly missed. Barry always had a kind word to say and would remember me anytime I seen him no matter if it was on the streets or in a store. I will always think of him and smile and laugh at all the good times he and I had at work."

HE was the best partner anybody could ever ask to work with. he could make me laugh on a bad day and make me have a tear with some of his stories. He was the best. I like many will miss him BUT i no he is camping up there with the big guys. ralph and i think of yous ev ery time we put our slippers on.
