Kathleen Irene Bodenus, age 73, of 253 Bodenus Drive, Little Lake, died Thursday morning at her home.
Mrs. Bodenus was born on October 12, 1932 in Little Lake, Michigan. She was a caregiver for Anna Bodenus where she met her future husband George W. Bodenus. Kathleen worked at K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base Bomber Alert in the housekeeping section. She also worked at Heaths Greenhouse in Skandia, prepared meals at the American Legion Post 349 for numerous occasions and ran the family restaurant and bait shop. She enjoyed making pasties at Rosies Pasty Shop in Escanaba, Michigan and picked potatoes for Bahrmans Potatoes Farms. Kathleen was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be sorely missed by her family, her constant companion Rusty, as well as, her nieces, nephews, cousins and great-grandchildren.
She was a Charter VIP member of the American Legion Post 349 of Little Lake, Michigan Womens Auxillary, a member to the St. Anthonys Parish of Gwinn, Michigan, an avid cook, gardener and animal lover.
Survivors include her three sisters, Lorraine J. Peterson of Little Lake, Mary A. (Ted) Howard of Skandia and Betty L. (Ray) Havnen of Gwinn; one brother, David Buddy Steele of Little Lake; four sons, George W. (Cheryl) Bodenus Jr., Leonard (Sharon) Bodenus, Mark Bodenus of Little Lake, Gary (Anita) Bodenus of Franklin, Nebraska; one daughter, Ann M. (James) Pirtle of Little Lake; nine grandchildren, Leonard (Marie) Bodenus Jr., Kristy (Josh) Mock, Jenny Bodenus, Kathy (George III) Willard, Kelly McClure, Christina Bodenus, Rebecca Bodenus, James W. Pirtle III and Joshua Bodenus. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Elaine Dorothy Steele; two brothers, Harold Jake Steele and Duane Beaver Steele; her husband, George William Bodenus.
A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Monday, September 25th at 6 p.m. at the Gwinn Funeral Home with the Rev. Fr. Greg Heikkala officiating. Friends may call Monday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service, at the Gwinn Funeral Home.
