Betty Sanderson
November 28, 1926 - December 9, 2003

Evelyn B. Betty Sanderson, 77, of 446 W. Bluff St., Marquette, died peacefully Tuesday afternoon at her home.

Mrs. Sanderson was born on November 28, 1926 in Gladstone, Michigan to the late Theodore and Augusta (Roahs) Meyskens. On February 18, 1943 she married William Sanderson at Bowling Green, Ohio. The couple moved to Marquette with their family in 1984 from Dearborn, Michigan and have lived here ever since.

Betty loved gardening, going to the casino and playing BINGO and was affectionately known as BINGO Betty. She enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and Florida with her husband, Bill. More than anything else, Betty enjoyed time spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, William A. Sanderson of Marquette; 6 children, Sheila (Ted) Bester of Howell, MI, Barry (Sue) Sanderson of Dearborn, William A. (Beth) Sanderson of Marquette, Craig S. (Patty) Sanderson of Big Bay, Scott A. Sanderson of Traverse City and Mark Sanderson of Marquette; 2 sisters, Mary Hogan of Marquette and Elsie Corbeill of Dearborn; 1 brother, Frank (Lilli) Meyskens of Santa Rosa, CA; also 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death besides her parents was a brother, Rene Meyskens.


Friends may call at the Canale-Tonella Funeral Home on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. where funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Burial will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery.

Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy are kindly asked to consider the U.P. Childrens Museum, 123 W. Baraga Ave., Marquette, MI 49855.

"Dear Aunt Bettie, I loved your visits to Las Vegas and my trips home to Marquuette when I would get the chance to visit with you and Uncle Bill. Both were always the highlights of my days. I miss you so very much. I still have out the card you sent me and your 60th wedding announcement that came out in the paper. I loved your singing Happy Birthday to me on my answering machine.
