Gertrude M. Jandron
May 3, 1920 - August 12, 2003

Gertrude M. Jandron, 83, of 425 W. Ohio Street, Marquette, died Tuesday evening at Marquette General Hospital.

Mrs. Jandron was born on May 3, 1920 in Marquette to the late Toivo and Fannie (Skytta) Aartila and lived in Marquette almost all her life. She attended Marquette area schools and was a graduate of the former Graveraet High School in 1938.

Gertrude worked as branch manager for the State of Michigan Secretary of States office for 24 years. She enjoyed 22 wonderful years of retirement traveling with her husband, Al. Las Vegas was one of her favorite places to visit.

In her retirement she also volunteered for several years at Marquette General Hospital.

Gertrude and Al enjoyed many nice evenings having dinner and playing cards with their friends, Nancy and Jack Peterson. One of her hobbies was growing red roses, which her front yard on Ohio Street was famous for. She was known for possessing a wonderful sense of humor coupled with a positive attitude.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Alphonse Al Jandron currently of the Eastwood Nursing Center whom she married on May 3, 1946 at St. Peter Cathedral in Marquette; three dear children, Neil (Kathie) Jandron of Marquette, Shelley (Stephen) Shoen of Stanton, MI and Kim and Bet Jandron of Green Bay, WI; four special grandchildren, Tia (Jon) Arntsen, Tammy (Brian) Kulbieda, and Craig and Stacy Shoen; two much loved great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Olivia Arntsen; one brother, Arno (Donna) Aartila of Honor, MI; a sister-in-law, Stephanie Aartila of Gladstone; also numerous nieces, nephews as well as her cat, Tiger. Preceding her in death besides her parents was a son, Craig Jandron in 1968; a granddaughter, Kerry Jandron; also two brothers, Peter and Richard Aartila.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. in St. Peter Cathedral with the Rev. Thomas Poisson officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday in the Bishops Room of the cathedral beginning at 3 p.m. until the time of the mass. Interment will take place in Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Greg Aartila, Tom Aartila, David Vallar and Dale Berglund.
