Floyd H. St.Amour Sr., 82, of Munising, died on Thursday, September 19, 2002 at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans where he had resided for approximately one month.
Mr. St.Amour was born on August 27, 1920 in Munising to the late Henry and Laura (Tousignant) St.Amour. Floyd worked for the Civil Conservation Corp as a young man. On April 19, 1941, he married the former Ethel C. Baij.
Floyd entered the U.S. Navy in July of 1943 and was discharged at the end of World War II. He worked on a minesweeper during most of his military service.
He then went to work for the former Atlas Plywood Company in Munising. He was later employed by the Alger County Road Commission for 33 years retiring in 1979.
Floyd was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Munising. He enjoyed building homes as a hobby. He and his wife, Ethel, enjoyed being outdoors. Together they bird hunted and snowmobiled for many years. Most of all, Floyd enjoyed being with family, friends and his grandchildren.
Mr. St.Amour is survived by his children, Karen (Ron) St.Amour of Mission Viejo, CA, Floyd Foggy (Judy) St.Amour, Jr. of Christmas and Wayne Sach (Gayle) St.Amour of AuTrain; siblings, Evangeline (James) Fromm, Munising, Irene Mully of lower Michigan, Robert (Peggy) St.Amour, Sr. and Agnes St.Amour both of Munising; sister-in-law, Eileen St.Amour of Munising; also eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one expected great grandchild as wells as several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel on August 27, 1989, also a brother, Henry St.Amour and a sister, Laura Keusch.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 30, 2002 at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Munising with Deacon James Anderson officiating. Inurnment will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery.
