Eulogy for Michael A. Larson, by Laura V. Larson

''I had the pleasure of meeting Michael in 1981, when he was almost 8 years old, the year I married his beloved, late father, Ralph. I was immediately taken by Michael's warm, easy-going, friendly disposition, slight shyness, mischievous nature, and delightful sense of humor. These traits followed him throughout his 28 years, and were just as endearing to me when I spoke to him by phone only a few weeks ago. He seemed happy, very glad to be out of the service, and excited about his next new job. In usual Michael fashion, it was 'skip the play button and press fast forward'.

How very sad that all our earthly plans can fall to ashes so quickly. March 15th cancelled them all, and took away a dear young man who was many things to the many people who loved him. His memory to each one of us is like a seperate picture in each of our minds; each framed differently, uniquely, seen only by us. A dearly loved photograph which will live forever in its specially reserved place in our hearts. Mom, brother, sister, cousin, friend, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew: It is memory's photograph that you will gaze upon, that will always keep Michael a part of you, though he is gone; it is the imprint he made on your life that death cannot erase. The word, the touch, the gesture, the experience, the smile, the laugh, the tear, the look, the love. It's all there, in your picture, in your heart. Keep it for your comfort now; look upon it often.

I close with a plea that you will all contemplate on how quickly life can pass; but life does not end, it continues. It is up to each of us to be ready when God says it's time to go. Today may be the only day you have left. Today, John 3:16 is for you.''

''For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in HIm should no perish, but have everlasting Life.''

"I was Mikey's room mate and friend and I have to say, he was one of a kind. Like the many people who were lucky enough to call him their friend, I was shocked and saddened by his passing. Toward the end of his enlistment he was so happy and excited to be getting out of the Navy and to be starting a new chapter in his life. I can not believe that it has been ten years already. We miss you Mikey. The world is not as bright as when you were here. Thank you for being a friend and taking the time to help a young boot camp learn to survive in Alfa Company! I will not forget you. Alex Reed"

"Mike, I still remember the first time I saw you one day after the bell had rung at Powell Township school. I remember thinking to myself, "I can't wait to be old enough to hang out with the cool people like that." Little did I know at the time that you would become a part of my family in so many ways. You'll never know how much it meant to me when you, Jodi, Short and Aimee would let me tag along with you, eventhough I was the pesty little sister. You were always there whenever someone needed something. I'm so happy that you came into the lives of us all, and I'm espically happy that Taylor had the opportunity to have you as her Godfather. It had been a long time since I had seen you last, but I thought about you often, just as I always will. Love and God's Peace, Julee"

"Dearest Mike, The past week I have spent many hours remembering the time you spent with my family. The hours you spent taking down trees on our lot so we could build our house, the time you came to church on Christmas Eve (and we all laughed when Liz fell asleep and snored like a truck driver), the many times the fearless foursome (you, Jody, Aimee and Short) tried to explain where you had been and what you had gotten into together. Mostly I remember your quiet smile, your patience and your complete devotion and support for your friends and family. The time you shared with my family has been a blessing and I will treasure those memories forever. I know you will be watching over Taylor like a Godfather does and you will always be with her. Mike-thanks for sharing your time with us. Love and God's Peace, Connie"
