September 16, 1929 - April 22, 2001
Elizabeth A. Liz Bureau, 71, died Sunday evening, April 22, 2001 at the Eastwood Nursing Center in Negaunee.
Ms. Bureau was born September 16, 1929, in Marquette to the late Alfred & Mable (Lemire) Bureau and had spent most of her life in Marquette. She was a graduate of Bishop Baraga High School. Liz was previously employed as a cashier at the former Liberty Loan in Marquette and also for Commercial Credit in Milwaukee. She later worked for ten years as a clerk at the former Bureau Grocery Store in Marquette, which was owned by her family.
Liz was a member of St. Peter Cathedral as well as its altar society.
Survivors include a sister, Marie (Edward) Vickstrom of Ishpeming; cousins, Marie Stickney of Marquette, Lucille Connors of Negaunee, Don Lawry of Marquette, and Jim (Nancy) Lemire of Hartland, WI; four nephews, one niece and several great-nieces & nephews. Her parents and a sister, Joyce Menard, preceded her in death.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 27, 2001 in St. Peter Cathedral at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. James Roetzer officiating. Interment has already taken place in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Eastwood Nursing Center Activities Fund, 900 Maas Street, Negaunee, MI 49866.
