"We have many fond memories of Chris joining us for many barbeques and children?s birthday parties as Ellen is close to our daughter?s age. Chris was always so thoughtful about bringing flowers and wine every time we invited her and Bill over. There was always lots of laughter. Chris and Jackie would drink that wine and share stories especially funny motherhood stories. Chris was a wonderful mother--always making intelligent and loving choices. She will be missed by us. Christine Marie Warders, 71, passed away March 11, 2020 at Ryan House Hospice, Phoenix, AZ. She had earlier suffered a stroke.
She was born January 12, 1949 to Robert and Dorothy Doster in Toledo, OH.
She was a graduate of St. Ursula's Academy in Toledo. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Bowling Green University in 1971.
After graduation she worked as a research chemist for Gulf Oil Company in Houston, TX. In 1983 she moved to Phoenix, AZ where she worked in the research lab for Sola Ophthalmic. In 1991 she began her career as a science and homebound teacher for Glendale Union High School District. She retired in 2014. As a homebound teacher she derived great satisfaction from working with students too ill to attend classes in person.
Her interests included sewing, hiking, camping, crafts, square dancing and cooking. Above all she was devoted to her family.
She is survived by her husband, William, and her daughter Ellen Jennie as well as her stepdaughter Kristi McCardell and Kristi's family, Andrew, Emily and Courtney Warders-Reiff. She is also survived by her sister Janis Cady and her nieces and nephew.
Chris was a very original and "out of the box" thinker. As an example, when asked the age-old question, "Is the glass half full or half empty", her observation was that it was both.
Her favorite poet was Maya Angelou who wrote:
'Cause I'm a woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, That's me.
She was loved by all who knew her.

She was a kind hearted, smart, loyal friend, and always generous with her time and energy. She was such a unique spirit, I am so grateful to have known her. Her loss has touched many people. "Karoubi Family . As Chris is grealtly missed, she did leave us with lots of good memories. Our family had a chance to meet with Warders family during the Summer swimming @ Mountain View pool, our team called MANTA RAYS. We had good days and better days, when the tempruture was above 100. was a good days, when it was on high 90's was the better days. But Chris always showed up with the big smile and having a book on her hand to read .The days that no swimming seeing her walking the dog in early moring as she was waithing @ the trafic light to cross the road . Chris always be with us and we emebmer her as a very positive person and we enjoyed her compnay . Our Thoughts and prayers go to Bill, Ellen, Kristi, Andrew, Courtney and Emily Love , Karoubi family. "My mom meant so much to me. She taught me strength, independence and unconditional love. She taught me compassion for others. She was beautiful inside and out. She loved my dad so much in life and there marriage was example of a beautiful love story that never ended. She was funny and smart, when I struggled in school, she got me a tutor, when I needed help navigating the adult world, I always knew I could count on her advice and support. My mom was amazing, and this loss I?ll probably never get over it, but I?ll carry her with my in my heart and through my actions she will live on in me ? "I am so sad to hear of the passing of Chris. Chris was a wonderful person and more than just a great friend she was family. In fact Chris and I used to refer to each other as brother and sister. I met Chris when I first began visiting Phoenix in 1984. I was a young aspiring Square Dance Caller, Chris was the first one to higher me for a dance in Arizona. She was also my first friend in Arizona. I moved to Arizona in 1985, became a full time square dance caller. Throughout the years both Chris, Bill and Ellen remained part of my extended family. There are so many wonderful memories.Square Dancing of course but I especially enjoyed the wonderful dinner parties Chris and Bill hosted. Chris was a fantastic cook. The last one was on Thanksgiving a few years ago. We always remembered each other's birthdays She had a great sense of humor and always had a sympathetic ear when I needed to talk. . I remember her surprise 50th birthday party for Bill, which took place on his 49th Birthday, what a great surprise indeed. Chris will be greatly missed by all those who loved her. My thoughts are with Bill and Ellen. "
"Our family had the pleasure of living in the same neighborhood for about 12 years with Kris and her family. She would frequently walk her dog, Angel, around the neighborhood and we were always greeted with a smile and friendly conversation. She spoke highly of her daughter, Ellen, and husband, Bill, and would reminisce about her career as a teacher, taking interest in my children?s education. She was always present at neighborhood gatherings, offering delicious dishes to share and even her home. Her presence has been missed since her first health crisis and we will continue to cherish those memories. Love always, Ramon Family"
