"Dear Cahill Family, I was so saddened to read the paper today and see Dr. Cahill's obituary. I can't tell you how many times I have thought about him over the years. When I was in high school, I thought I wanted to be a pediatrician and interned in Dr. Cahill & Dr. Coll's office for 4 years. It was during my senior year that my father died and Dr. Cahill was worried I might not be able to afford college anymore. He took me aside one day and told me that nothing would stop me from going to college or medical school and that if need be, he would help pay for my college. That exemplifies the person he was. Luckily my parents had saved up and I didn't need to take him up on his offer ... but who does that for a young intern at the front desk, especially when you have 4 children of your own? I learned so much during my 4 years there and will always remember Dr. Cahill's boisterous personality and that big smile on his face. I'll never forget him or the impact he had on a young 17-year-old girl. Thoughts to Joan and the family. So sorry I can't be there on Saturday as I'll be out of town."
