In loving memory of

Joseph Dube

LEON "LEO" JOSEPH DUBE, 84, of Phoenix passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Saturday, June 23, 2018 alongside his devoted and loving wife, Patricia Dube. One of eight siblings, Leo was born to Archille "Archie" and Leonilda Dube of Quebec, Canada on February 20, 1934 in Whitefield, NH. In the 1950's Leo happily moved to Phoenix, AZ where he spent the remaining years of his life with the exception of a short time in Henderson, NV from 1998-2000. Leo served in the U.S. Army as Private First Class from August 1956 to December 1957 and was stationed at Fort Huachuca, AZ.

Leo was joyfully married to Patricia "Tricia" Sturgeon on March 15, 1980 in Scottsdale, AZ, sharing 38 years of marriage together. Leo's three children are: Randy Lee of Phoenix, AZ; John William and his wife, Kate Elizabeth Kirkpatrick Dube of Tempe, AZ; and Jennifer Joy Dube Voas and her husband, Tyler Wayne Voas of Phoenix, AZ.

Leo was a devoted Grandfather and "Papa" to seven grandchildren: Liberty Hadassah, Abraham Josiah, Talia Ruth, and Magnolia Joy by John and Kate; and Mason Zachariah, Soraya Evangeline, and Rowyn Mae by Tyler and Joy. He counted his grandchildren as one of his greatest blessings in life.

An avid outdoorsman and bass fisherman from youth, Leo was a member of the Apache Bass Club where he earned recognition and awards in many tournaments over the years alongside his younger brother, Paul. Unequalled in his work ethic, Leo provided for his family as a sprayman and painter all his working years, owning and operating Kennedy Painting, Inc. in the 1980's.

Leo had a capacity to love all people and creatures he met, strangers and loved ones alike. He was the life of the party, a humorous and joyful man, who could talk to anyone without hesitation. Unguarded and affectionate, he frequently expressed his love to those dear to him. To know Leo was to love him. His desire was to leave everyone he met with a smile on their face. He truly enjoyed being with others and having a laugh. Leo kept everyone who knew him continually entertained with his wit and unique perspective on life. A larger than life character, with a genuine heart. He is deeply missed.

Leo is preceded in death by his parents, Archille and Leonilda Benoit Dube and three brothers Armand, Renee, and Adelard "AJ" Dube.

Leo is survived by his brothers Farnard "Venner," Albert, Paul Dube, and sister, Mary LaClair. It would be remiss not to mention Leo is also survived by his beloved dog, Sophie.

A Funeral service honoring Leo's life and legacy will be held at 10:00 AM Friday June 29, 2018 at Northwest Community Church, 16615 N. 43rd Avenue, Phoenix AZ 85053, followed by a light refreshment reception. A brief committal service will be held at 2:00 PM at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek, Phoenix 85024.

"Although I only met Leo a couple of times I have known him for 10 years thru his wonderful wife. some of the stories she told me were hilarious. I attended Leo?s 80th birthday party, when I saw the two of them dancing the gaze in their eyes showed how much they truly loved each other. I know Leo will be missed dearly by many."
