In loving memory of

Tyler Joseph Johnson

October 5th 1997 - April 28th 2018

A graduate of Deer Valley High School and sophomore at Northern Arizona University, Tyler Johnson loved what he was doing, whether it was studying with Gabrielle for his classes to be admitted into the School of Nursing at NAU, or making the perfect three-point shot on the basketball court with his friends.  Tyler, an energetic and easy-going young man, excelled at NAU, where he was on the Dean's List.  He brought smiles to the faces of loved ones and friends by his presence, light-hearted jokes and the sincerest of heartfelt sentiments.

Tyler loved to travel, whether it be to Wisconsin to visit family, Chicago to catch a Cubs game, the mountains of Colorado to zip line, or the California Coast.  He loved the beach, or any place where he could play in the surf.  Even while strolling along the water's edge in his street clothes, seldom was there ever a time when he didn't get wet.  He had a passion for hiking and even conquered the Grand Canyon down and up in a single day.

His affable manner was infectious.  Above all, his strongest suit was that of his resilience, always seeming to find a way to overcome the obstacles which stood in his path.  He was a ray of hope and possessed an unfailing positivity that somehow made each and every one of us believe in not only the goodness of people in general, but in the unique potential that resides in each of us.  Tyler and his father Warren shared a deep and mutual respect for one another.  Warren reveled in Tyler's accomplishments, similar to the way that Tyler admired his dad's work ethic and strength.  And when it came to hair, claimed by Tyler to be everything, only his big brother Alexander was allowed to cut it. Tyler shared a passion with his dad and brother for the Phoenix Suns, Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Cubs and he was always quick to remind everyone who won the 2016 World Series. He loved animals and was adored by his dog, Rizzo.

When we wake up in the morning and remember him through the haze of dreams and memories, we need to choose to be better, choose goodness, but also choose to honor his light-heartedness and his goofiness. We remember that when he smiled, he lit up the entire room, and when we smile, we remember how he touched our hearts.

Tyler's life was lost tragically in an automobile accident in Glendale on the morning of April 28th, 2018.  He is survived by his father Warren Johnson of Glendale, mother Monica Johnson of Phoenix, older brother Alexander Johnson of Phoenix, Grandmother Judy Johnson of Wisconsin, Aunt Laurie & Uncle Louie Perrine of Wisconsin, Uncle Al & Aunt Tudie Johnson of Phoenix, Uncle Glenn & Aunt Maryam Johnson of Wisconsin, Uncle Bruce Marcinak of Florida, Aunt Marilyn Marcinak of Georgia, Cousins Sabrina, Andre, Anthony, Louie and Lindsay.

Services will be held at Christ's Church of the Valley, 7007 W. Happy Valley Road in Peoria, AZ 85383 on Friday, May 4th, 2018.  Public viewing from 2:00PM to 3:00PM, Service commences at 3:00PM.
